Durable and efficient anion exchange polyelectrolytes (AEPs) are crucial for the long-term operation of cost-effective anion exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs) and water electrolyzers (AEMWEs). Here, we present a new class of ?-amine-piperidinium-functi ...

Aqueous zinc metal batteries with mild acidic electrolytes are considered promising candidates for large-scale energy storage. However, the Zn anode suffers from severe Zn dendrite growth and side reactions due to the unstable interfacial pH and the absenc ...

We developed and implemented a multi-target multi-fidelity workflow to explore the chemical space of antiperovskite materials with general formula X(3)BA (X=Li, Na, Mg) and Pm-3m space group, searching for stable high-performance solid state electrolytes f ...

Thermal energy storage via latent heat provides an energy dense solution and, during discharge, a hot stream at a well-defined temperature. Utilizing metal phase change materials (PCMs) and high-temperature operation might enable fast (dis)charging and app ...

This text explains the use of compressed air for energy storage and efficient pneumatic applications. Chapters cover the elementary physical and engineering principles related to compressed air, including compression and expansion characteristics, adiabati ...

Research and development of flexible lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with high energy density and long cycle life for portable and wearable electronic devices has been a cutting-edge effort in recent years. In this paper, a novel flexible self-standing anode ...

The world by and large has adopted the The Paris Agreement, which commits any signing party to cut greenhouse emissions drastically and prevent global heating above 2 °C beyond pre-industrial levels. For this ambitious goal to be met, ratifying states need ...

Energy balance in a power system must be maintained at all times, regardless of the variations in generation and consumption. Large Pumped Hydro Storage Plants (PHSPs) are introduced to the power system to accumulate the excess of energy during the low dem ...

Fluorination of solvents, useful for non-aqueous lithium-based batteries, improves the electrochemical stability but decreases the ionic conductivity. Here, the authors report a targeted functionalization of an ether solvent to balance the electrolyte ioni ...

The recent targets by different countries to stop the sales or registrations of internal combustion engines (ICE) have led to the further development of battery and fuel cell technologies to provide power for different applications. The main aim of this st ...

Continuous dendrites growth, as well as corrosion and side reactions of Zn metal anode seriously hinder the development of aqueous zinc ion batteries. To address these issues, oleic acid (OA) is dispersed into a 2 M ZnSO4 solution to form a novel colloidal ...

The harmful impacts of fossil-fuel-based engines on the environment have resulted in the development of other alternatives for different types of vehicles. Currently, batteries and fuel cells are being used in the automotive industry, while promising progr ...

Microorganisms known as exoelectrogens evolved the ability of transporting electrons across insulating biological membranes. In a physiological context, this enables respiration on extracellular electron acceptors and electron transfer to other organisms. ...

Modern UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) suffer from restrictions in flight range and time due to battery capacity limitations. One way to overcome these limitations is to harvest energy from overhead power lines. A growing body of scientific literature has ...

Sodium-metal chloride batteries are considered a sustainable and safe alternative to lithium-ion batteries for large-scale stationary electricity storage, but exhibit disadvantages in rate capability. Several studies identify metal-ion migration through th ...
