Over the last two decades, Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DW-MRI) has been developed as a powerful MR imaging modality that allows estimating non-invasively the microscopic structure of biological tissues by exploiting the natural motion of ...

Tissue phantoms are materials designed to mimic the dielectric properties of biological tissues. This work proposes eco-friendly tissue phantoms of cartilage, cerebrospinal fluid and stomach in the frequency range between 0.4 and 6 GHz. For reaching this p ...

A novel fast 3D-31P-B+1 mapping method called the frequency-selective Double-AngleMethod (fDAM) has been developed. This method integrates a 3D weighted stack of spiral gradient echo acquisitions with a frequency-selective pulse to efficiently map B+1 fiel ...

Digital brain atlases define a hierarchy of brain regions and their locations in three-dimensional space. They provide a standard coordinate system in which diverse datasets can be integrated for visualization and analysis. They also enable building of dat ...

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: MS lesions exhibit varying degrees of axonal and myelin damage. A comprehensive description of lesion phenotypes could contribute to an improved radiologic evaluation of smoldering inflammation and remyelination processes. This stud ...

Advances in science, medicine and engineering rely on breakthroughs in imaging, particularly for obtaining multiscale, three-dimensional information from functional systems such as integrated circuits or mammalian brains. Achieving this goal often requires ...

ObjectivePrematurity is associated with a high risk of long-term behavioral problems. This study aimed to assess the prognostic utility of volumetric brain data at term-equivalent-age (TEA), clinical perinatal factors, and parental social economic risk in ...

Objectives To evaluate the performance of automatic deep learning (DL) algorithm for size, mass, and volume measurements in predicting prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and compared with manual measurements. ...

A new and efficient magnetisation transfer P-31 magnetic resonance fingerprinting (MT-P-31-MRF) approach is introduced to measure the creatine kinase metabolic rate kCK

The pathogenic bacterium Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) can invade the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and cause meningitis with devastating consequences. Whether and how sensory cells in the central nervous system (CNS) become activated during bacteri ...

Eccentricity has emerged as a potentially useful tool for helping to identify the origin of black hole mergers. However, eccentric templates can be computationally very expensive owing to the large number of harmonics, making statistical analyses to distin ...

Positron emission tomography is a nuclear imaging technique well known for its use in oncology for cancer diagnosis and staging. A PET scanner is a complex machine which comprises photodetectors placed in a ring configuration that detect gamma photons gen ...

The objective of this study was to examine if patterns of resting-state brain activity and functional connectivity in cortical and subcortical regions in patients with early symptomatic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) resemble those of behavioural vari ...

Noninvasive estimation of axon diameter with diffusion MRI holds the potential to investigate the dynamic properties of the brain network and pathology of neurodegenerative diseases. Recent studies use powder averaging to account for complex white matter a ...

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been a valuable tool in investigating the pathological cascade of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and its progression, which are still open questions. Although some MRI-derived hallmarks in terms of functional connectivity and ...

Highly energy-efficient wireless sensor nodes are a prerequisite for a sustainable operation of the Internet of things. Therefore, classical approaches for system design based on digital signal processing are not a viable solution, but system design has to ...

Very preterm birth (VPT;

The invention provides a method for quantifying the number of target entities that were successfully encapsulated into a microfluidic compartment such as a microfluidic droplet. The invention is predicated upon a continuous quantifiable detectable signal c ...

Remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) using camera-based imaging has shown excellent potential recently in vital signs monitoring due to its contactless nature. However, the optimum filter selection for pre-processing rPPG data in signal conditioning is still ...

We enable the estimation of the per-axon axial diffusivity from single encoding, strongly diffusion-weighted, pulsed gradient spin echo data. Additionally, we improve the estimation of the per-axon radial diffusivity compared to estimates based on spherica ...
