Thermo-optical nonlinearities (TONL) in metasurfaces enable dynamic control of optical properties—such as transmitted power, phase, and polarization—through external stimuli like laser irradiation or temperature. Due to the inherently slow thermal dynamics ...

The faithful bidirectional quantum coherent conversion of microwave (5 GHz) and optical (193.5 THz) quantum states will become essential for future quantum networks. Due to their low transition frequency, qubit states are quickly destroyed at room temperat ...

This article proposes a new two-wired amplifying active electrode (AE), presenting a high input impedance and a high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR). In the proposed structure, the input impedance and the CMRR of the system are considerably increased by ...

Photonic stepped-frequency radars based on optical frequency-shifting modulation have shown attractive properties such as wide bandwidth, centimeter range resolution, inherent frequency-time linearity with low spectrum spurs, and reduced system complexity. ...

This paper presents a broadband dual-polarized substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) slot antenna. It is analytically shown that by decreasing the permittivity of a dielectricloaded slot antenna, the resulting bandwidth increases significantly, where the wi ...

Environmental noise, mostly related to human activities, has an immense impact on public health. The development of noise reduction technologies is paramount in addressing this problem. Because of practical and economic reasons, a compact, broadband, light ...

Objective: Depotentiation of homosynaptic plasticity of the primary motor cortex (M1) is impaired in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) who have developed dyskinesias. In this exploratory study, we tested whether this holds true for heterosynaptic plas ...

Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer is an emerging technique in neurotechnology. This work presents an efficient transmitter for both power transfer and downlink data communication to multiple, miniaturised and inductively-powered chips. W ...

It was recently demonstrated that nonpersistent radicals can be generated in frozen solutions of metabolites such as pyruvate by irradiation with UV light, enabling radical-free dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization. Although pyruvate is endogenous, the ...

The Forbush decrease (FD) represents the rapid decrease of the intensities of charged particles accompanied with the coronal mass ejections or high-speed streams from coronal holes. It has been mainly explored with the ground-based neutron monitor network, ...

In the available literature, including reference books on the topic, the spectral analysis of voltage waveforms obtained through the use of pulse-width modulation relies on the assumption of an ideally flat voltage across the DC link of a considered switch ...

The article firstly proves that the constant quality factor (Q) contours for passive circuits, while represented on a 2D Smith chart, form circle arcs on a coaxal circle family. Furthermore, these circle arcs represent semi-circles families in the north he ...

This research presents a discrete-time transmission line model based on the propagation of travelling waves. In this approach, the transmission line is emulated by means of many interconnected unit delay cells implemented with switched-capacitor (SC) circu ...

Aside from intentional interference, multipath is the most significant error source for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) receivers in many operational scenarios. In this thesis, we study the multipath estimation from two different perspectives: t ...

This paper addresses the design and manufacturing of small scale square planar coils with inductance densities ranging from 2 to 19 miH.mm-2. The design strategy is based on both analytic formulas and finite element method (FEM). Two different manufacturin ...

This paper presents techniques for increasing communication data rates for OOK modulated signals in the case the carrier frequency is generated by a cross-coupled pair LC oscillator. The proposed circuitry completely turns off the transmitter during the tr ...

We theoretically demonstrate the generation of dark soliton trains in a one-dimensional exciton-polariton condensate within experimentally accessible schemes. In particular, we show that the frequency of the train can be finely tuned fully optically or ele ...

Wakes and impedances of single accelerator elements can be obtained by means of theoretical calculation, electromagnetic (EM) simulations or bench measurements. Since theoretical calculations apply only to simple structures and bench measurements have some ...

Terahertz radiation, THz = 1012 Hz, refers to electromagnetic signals with frequencies in the range of 0.3 to 3 THz, and wavelengths between 1 and 0.1 mm. This part of the electromagnetic spectrum is located in between millimeter waves at lower frequencies ...

This paper presents a bidirectional modular DC/DC converter. It consists of two Modular Multilevel Converters (MMC) linked by a transformer to achieve galvanic isolation. This topology serves as “DC transformer” interfacing low and medium voltage DC grids. ...
