Heat transfer differs in the regions where the flow is developed and developing thermally. These regions can be differentiated by using the thermal entry length. Many researchers have presented correlations to determine the thermal entry length for natural ...

The lateral transport of heat above abrupt (sub-)metre-scale steps in land surface temperature influences the local surface energy balance. We present a novel experimental method to investigate the stratification and dynamics of the near-surface atmospheri ...

Demand forecasting is becoming increasingly important as firms launch new products with short life cycles more frequently. This paper provides a framework based on state-of-the-art techniques that enables firms to use quantitative methods to forecast sales ...

The focus of this study is to evaluate the effects of porous media inside the gas flow channel of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) on four different output parameters of voltage, power density, pressure drop, and Nusselt number (Nu) considering ...

Parallel convection and E × B drifts act together to redistribute heat between the strike-points mechanisms is enhanced near the secondary X-point and is shown to dominate over heat in the low field side snowflake minus (LFS SF−). The cumulative heat conve ...

In this study, total heat transfer rate and pressure drop along a shell and tube heat exchanger (STHX) with 6 porous baffles are numerically investigated. To study the impacts of segmental porous baffles, three values for the permeability (10(-9) m(2), 10( ...

This study presents the development and evaluation of a novel shell-and-tube heat exchanger (STHX) design with segmental porous baffles. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in combination with machine learning tools are utilized to investigate the thermo-hy ...

System (2) for CO2 capture from a combustion engine (1) comprising an exhaust gas flow circuit (6) having an inlet end fluidly connected to an exhaust of the combustion engine, a heat exchanger circuit (12), a primary exhaust gas heat exchanger (H1) for tr ...

This study investigates the effect of daylight transmitted through three coloured glazing types (blue, orange and neutral) on thermal responses and overall comfort, at three temperature levels (19 °C, 22 °C and 26 °C). The goal is threefold: (i) understand ...

Explosive silicic volcanism is driven by gas overpressure in systems that are inefficient at outgassing. The zone at the margin of a volcanic conduit-thought to play an important role in the outgassing of magma and therefore pore pressure changes and explo ...

In the second article of the present two-part paper, upward single-phase heat transfer within a compact plate heat exchanger was investigated experimentally. The experimental setup, the data reduction technique and pressure drop results were presented in P ...

New experimental flow boiling heat transfer results averaged along a very low thermal conductivity polyimide channel are presented. The experimental setup consists of a horizontal, 285 mm-long, 2.689 mm inner diameter polyimide tube, heated by a counter-cu ...

This article introduces the energetic macroscopic representation (EMR) as approach for the dynamic nonlinear modeling of a reciprocating air compressor. EMR has been introduced recently for research development in complex electromechanical systems and is b ...

New enhanced boiling tubes from Wolverine Tube Inc. (Turbo-B5) and Wieland-Werke AG (Gewa-B5) were investigated using R-134a and R-236fa as test fluids. The tests were done at saturation temperatures of 5 and 15 degrees C, mass flow rates from 4 to 35 kg m ...

Flow boiling within microchannels has been explored intensively in the last decade due to their capability to remove high heat fluxes from microelectronic devices. However, the contribution of experiments to the understanding of the local features of the f ...
