The Affleck-Kennedy-Lieb-Tasaki (AKLT) point of the bilinear-biquadratic spin-1 chain is a cornerstone example of a disorder point where short-range correlations become incommensurate, and correlation lengths and momenta are nonanalytic. While the presence ...

Thermo-optical nonlinearities (TONL) in metasurfaces enable dynamic control of optical properties—such as transmitted power, phase, and polarization—through external stimuli like laser irradiation or temperature. Due to the inherently slow thermal dynamics ...

The faithful bidirectional quantum coherent conversion of microwave (5 GHz) and optical (193.5 THz) quantum states will become essential for future quantum networks. Due to their low transition frequency, qubit states are quickly destroyed at room temperat ...

We exhibit non-equivariant perturbations of the blowup solutions constructed in [18] for energy critical wave maps into

\mathbb{S}^2

. Our admissible class of perturbations is an open set in some sufficiently smooth topology and vanishes near the light co ...

Lane and pathway thickness: definition essay based on two case studies of Algerian transport projects. Planning and transport engineering have for a long time considered pathways and lanes as continuous lines connecting a point A to a point B. In terms of ...

We study the one-loop covariant effective action of Lifshitz theories using the heat kernel technique. The characteristic feature of Lifshitz theories is an anisotropic scaling between space and time. This is enforced by the existence of a preferred foliat ...

On-chip coherent light generation has wide-ranging applications in metrology, spectroscopy, quantum optics, etc. In this study, we demonstrate the generation of coherent light from a silicon-nitride microring resonator using cascaded nonlinear processes. T ...

The integration of information across different sensory modalities is known to be dependent upon the statistical characteristics of the stimuli to be combined. For example, the spatial and temporal proximity of stimuli are important determinants with stimu ...

The invention of the laser in the 1960s heralded a new era in photonics. Owing to both, academic and industrial research, photonics technologies have long become part of our everyday life. This PhD thesis explores two subfields of laser technologies: Frequ ...

The interstellar medium in the Milky Way's Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) is known to be strongly magnetised, but its large-scale morphology and impact on the gas dynamics are not well understood. We explore the impact and properties of magnetic fields in th ...

Horava's proposal for non-relativistic quantum gravity introduces a preferred time foliation of space-time which violates the local Lorentz invariance. The foliation is encoded in a dynamical scalar field which we call 'khronon'. The dynamics of the khrono ...

The methanol-to-olefins (MTO) process on zeolite-based catalysts enables the production of olefins from green methanol. Selectivity control requires an understanding of the nature and evolution of hydrocarbon species that act as catalytically active center ...

Polymer plasma laser ablation has been investigated theoretically. An elegant mathematical tool using the fractal structure of space-time was developed. The model was verified with good accuracy on the existing experimental results. ...

We present a numerical study and analytical model of the optical near field diffracted in the vicinity of subwavelength grooves milled in silver surfaces. The Green's tensor approach permits the computation of the phase and amplitude dependence of the diff ...

This thesis is devoted to studying field-theoretical branes in warped geometries, with emphasis on brane excitations and properties of background solutions. Firstly, we examine the features of a model in which our universe is represented by a local string- ...

The correlation properties of light provide an outstanding tool to overcome the limitations of traditional imaging techniques. A relevant case is represented by correlation plenoptic imaging (CPI), a quantum-inspired volumetric imaging protocol employing s ...

Optical resonators enable the generation, manipulation, and storage of electromagnetic waves. The physics underlying their operation is determined by the interference of electromagnetic waves, giving rise to the resonance spectrum. This mechanism causes th ...

We demonstrate narrow- linewidth ultrafast tunable integrated lasers based on heterogeneously integrated thin-film lithium niobate on ultra-low loss silicon nitride integrated photonic circuits. Using self-injection locking of a hybrid microresonator, we a ...

In this paper, the new mathematical correlation of two quantum systems that were initially allowed to interact and then separated is being formulated and analyzed. These correlations are illustrated by many examples and are also connected with fractals at ...
