Traditional analog front-ends for biomedical signal acquisitions operate at very low frequencies (Hz-range) and are severely affected by flicker and environmental noise, which degrade the quality of low-frequency signals, thereby reducing the signal-to-noi ...

The proliferation of microscopy methods for live-cell imaging offers many new possibilities for users but can also be challenging to navigate. The prevailing challenge in live-cell fluorescence microscopy is capturing intra-cellular dynamics while preservi ...

The invention provides a method for quantifying the number of target entities that were successfully encapsulated into a microfluidic compartment such as a microfluidic droplet. The invention is predicated upon a continuous quantifiable detectable signal c ...

Long global gyrokinetic turbulence simulations are particularly challenging in situations where the system deviates strongly from its initial state and when fluctuation levels are high, for example, in strong gradient regions. For particle-in-cell simulati ...

The dynamic repertoire of functional brain networks is constrained by the underlying topology of structural connections. Despite this intrinsic relationship between structural connectivity (SC) and functional connectivity (FC), integrative and multimodal a ...

Real-time quality assessment (rtQA) of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) based on blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) signal changes is critical for neuroimaging research and clinical applications. The losses of BOLD sensitivity because of diffe ...

Phase correction (PC) is a preprocessing technique that exploits the phase of images acquired in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to obtain real-valued images containing tissue contrast with additive Gaussian noise, as opposed to magnitude images which fol ...

Protein kinases are quintessential regulators of cellular function. Numerous pathologies are intimately linked to the dysregulated activity of a particular protein kinase. Herein we report a technology based on a proximity-induced chemical transformation t ...

Thurber and Tycko recently described a 'bleaching effect' that occurs in magnetic resonance when solid samples that are doped with paramagnetic agents are subjected to rotation by magic angle spinning (MAS) in a static magnetic field with a rotation period ...

Purpose Carbon-13 magnetic resonance spectroscopy (13C-MRS) is challenging because of the inherent low sensitivity of 13C detection and the need for radiofrequency transmission at the 1H frequency while receiving the 13C signal, the latter requiring electr ...

The fading AWGN two-user two-hop network is considered where the channel coefficients are independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) according to a continuous distribution and vary over time. For a broad class of channel distributions, the ergodic su ...

We report the first observation of stochastic resonance in confined exciton polaritons. We evidence this phenomena by tracking the polaritons behavior through two stochastic resonance quantifiers namely the spectral magnification factor and the signal-to-n ...

In this work we designed and tested an in-vivo measurement system of prosthetic knee joint angles. The system included a small permanent magnet in the femoral part and three magneto resistance sensors placed in the polyethylene part. The sensor configurati ...

This thesis deals with the optical characterization of single quantum dot devices emitting at 1300nm. Thanks to the development and optimization of the growth technique we were able to achieve at the same time emission at 1300nm and ultra low QD densities. ...
