Over the past decade, lead halide perovskites (LHPs) have received considerable attention thanks to their impressive optoelectronic properties. Today, LHP-based devices are one of the most efficient single-junction solar cells, with power-conversion effici ...

Gallium Nitride (GaN) is a wonder material which has widely transformed the world by enabling energy-efficient white light-emitting diodes. Over the past decade, GaN has also emerged as one of the most promising materials for developing power devices which ...

Recent studies demonstrated that the performance of InGaN/GaN quantum well (QW) light emitting diodes (LEDs) can be significantly improved through the insertion of an InGaN underlayer (UL). The current working hypothesis is that the presence of the UL redu ...

High light-quality and low color temperature are two crucial factors for a comfortable healthy illumination. Phosphor-converted white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) could be readily realized by combining near-UV (380-420 nm) LED chips with tri-color phosphor ...

Squaraines are organic dyes showing the advantages of a simple synthesis, high absorption coefficients and tunable bandgaps from the visible to the near-infrared (NIR) region. Their molecular structure is based on a polymethine chain and a donor-acceptor-d ...

We investigate the density of defects and the degradation rate in InGaN light-emitting diodes having identical dislocation density and epitaxial structure, but different indium content in the quantum well (QW; 12%, 16%, 20%). Our results, based on combined ...

AlGaN/GaN devices have shown outstanding potential for power conversion applications. However, despite the recent progress, their performance is still far from what the material can offer in terms of on-resistance and breakdown voltage. To address this cha ...

Gallium Nitride (GaN) is one of the most promising materials for high frequency power switching due to its exceptional properties such as large saturation velocity, high carrier mobility, and high breakdown field strength. The high switching frequency of G ...

Defects can significantly modify the electro-optical characteristics of InGaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs); however, modeling the impact of defects on the electrical characteristics of LEDs is not straightforward. In this paper, we present an extensive inv ...

III-N family of materials has offered multiple groundbreaking technologies in the field of optoelectronics and high-power radio-frequency (RF) devices. Blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs) have revolutionized low-energy lighting. Gallium nitride (GaN) RF mark ...

Silicon photonics enables wafer-scale integration of optical functionalities on chip. Silicon-based laser frequency combs can provide integrated sources of mutually coherent laser lines for terabit-per-second transceivers, parallel coherent light detection ...

Phase control of low-dimensional metal-halide perovskites (LDPs) greatly affects their optoelectronic properties, and phase-pure LDPs are desirable to achieve efficient perovskite optoelectronic devices such as solar cells and light-emitting diodes. Herein ...

State-of-the-art organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) used in commercial display technology are complex multilayer structures. In contrast, the light-emitting electrochemical cell (LEC) can be built from a single emissive layer sandwiched between two elec ...

Owing to their wide direct bandgap tenability, III-nitride (III-N) compound semiconductors have been proven instrumental in the development of blue light-emitting diodes that led to the so-called solid-state lighting revolution and blue laser diodes that a ...

The international actions against global warming demands reductions in carbon emission and more efficient use of energy. Energy efficiency in the conversion and use of electricity, as an important form of energy in the modern life, has strong environmental ...

Progress in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on ZnO/GaN heterojunctions has run into several obstacles during the last twenty years. While both the energy bandgap and lattice parameter of the two semiconductors are favorable to the development of such de ...

In this paper, we illustrate the use of RF-sputtered p-NiO to fabricate Junction Termination Extensions (JTEs) for high-performance vertical GaN-on-Si Schottky Barrier Diodes (SBDs). The GaN epitaxial structures were grown on 6-inch Si wafers by MOCVD. The ...
