The faithful bidirectional quantum coherent conversion of microwave (5 GHz) and optical (193.5 THz) quantum states will become essential for future quantum networks. Due to their low transition frequency, qubit states are quickly destroyed at room temperat ...

Thermo-optical nonlinearities (TONL) in metasurfaces enable dynamic control of optical properties—such as transmitted power, phase, and polarization—through external stimuli like laser irradiation or temperature. Due to the inherently slow thermal dynamics ...

This paper proposes a novel temperature sensing method using stimulated Brillouin scattering in a hollow-core fiber filled with gas. Compared to classical Brillouin sensors, the Brillouin response of gases shows a higher sensitivity at cryogenic temperatur ...

The invention of the laser in the 1960s heralded a new era in photonics. Owing to both, academic and industrial research, photonics technologies have long become part of our everyday life. This PhD thesis explores two subfields of laser technologies: Frequ ...

We demonstrate integrated optical continuous-travelling-wave parametric amplifiers that significantly surpass the amplification bandwidth of traditional Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers. Using a 5.55-cm-long integrated gallium phosphide waveguide, we achieve ...

Phase imaging is widely used in biomedical imaging, sensing, and material characterization, among other fields. However, direct imaging of phase objects with subwavelength resolution remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrate subwavelength imaging of phase ...

Access to metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with enhanced me-chanical stability is key to their successful deployment in practical applications. However, the high porosity of the material often af-fects mechanical stability. In this article, to achieve highl ...

The intrinsic random amplitude and phase modulation of 40 distinct lines of a microresonator frequency comb operated in the modulation instability regime are used to realize massively parallel random-modulation continuous-wave light detection and ranging, ...

Photonics integrated circuits are a promising solution for the growing demands of data transmission and future system-on-chip technologies. Within this context, nonlinear optical interactions offer unique opportunities for all-optical processing, sampling, ...

Raw data and Python code for the manuscript "Emergent coherent modes in nonlinear magnonic waveguides detected at ultrahigh frequency resolution". All data files and source code are provided in a zip file. .ipynb file is a python jupyter notebook file whi ...

We demonstrate tunable dispersion compensation of femtosecond pulses at telecom wavelengths for broadband Terahertz generation in 7.5-meter fiber link using a Silicon prism pair. The prism pair enhances the amplitude of the THz E-field in InGaAs photocondu ...

On-chip coherent light generation has wide-ranging applications in metrology, spectroscopy, quantum optics, etc. In this study, we demonstrate the generation of coherent light from a silicon-nitride microring resonator using cascaded nonlinear processes. T ...

This thesis explores the application of recent advances in integrated photonics to the field of light detection and ranging (LiDAR). The progress in photonic integration allows for unprecedented levels of light manipulation on micrometer scales through the ...

Keeping up with our constantly connected lifestyle of instant messages and video streaming has its repercussions. Data centers have been gobbling up resources becoming a significant share of the energy used worldwide. To keep up with demand and curb the en ...

The occurrence of manufacturing defects in wind turbine blade (WTB) production can result in significant increases in operation and maintenance costs of WTBs, reduce capacity factors of wind farms, and occasionally lead to severe and disastrous consequence ...

The integration of technology in the medical field has greatly improved accuracy in diagnoses, thus leading to more effective treatments. Wearable and implantable medical devices offer great potential for remote patient monitoring, particularly for heart f ...

Nonlinear optical frequency conversion is one of the driving research areas in photonics. Its quasi instantaneous response and the promise of low power consumption in integrated structures could cover the demand for fast signal processing with minimal ener ...

Accessing the low-energy non-equilibrium dynamics of materials and their polaritons with simultaneous high spatial and temporal resolution has been a bold frontier of electron microscopy in recent years. One of the main challenges lies in the ability to re ...

The paper proposes a synchropahsor estimation (SE) algorithm that leverages the use of a delayed in-quadrature complex signal to mitigate the self-interference of the fundamental tone. The estimator, which uses a three-point IpDFT combined with a three-cyc ...

Implanted medical devices (IMDs) have been widely developed to support the monitoring and recording of biological data inside the body or brain. Wirelessly powered IMDs, a subset of implantable electronics, have been proposed to eliminate the limitations r ...
