Résumé

The reaction of anilines and phenylacetaldehydes in the presence of chiral phosphoric acid afforded optically active 1,2-trans, 2,3-cis 1,3-diaminotetralins in high yields with excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities. The trans/cis product was readily isomerized to a trans/trans stereoisomer with no significant loss of enantiomeric purity.

Isomérie cis-trans

En chimie organique, les préfixes cis et trans servent à préciser la configuration géométrique d'une molécule en spécifiant si, par rapport à la chaine principale de la molécule décrite, les principaux groupes fonctionnels sont situés du même côté (cis-, « ensemble » en latin) ou au contraire de part et d'autre (trans-, « à travers » en latin). Les deux configurations cis- et trans- sont donc diastéréoisomères. Pour la détermination cis/trans, la priorité des substituants est définie selon leur encombrement stérique, et non selon la nomenclature Cahn-Ingold-Prelog.

Stereoisomerism

In stereochemistry, stereoisomerism, or spatial isomerism, is a form of isomerism in which molecules have the same molecular formula and sequence of bonded atoms (constitution), but differ in the three-dimensional orientations of their atoms in space. This contrasts with structural isomers, which share the same molecular formula, but the bond connections or their order differs. By definition, molecules that are stereoisomers of each other represent the same structural isomer.

Isomer

In chemistry, isomers are molecules or polyatomic ions with identical molecular formula – that is, same number of atoms of each element – but distinct arrangements of atoms in space. Isomerism refers to the existence or possibility of isomers. Isomers do not necessarily share similar chemical or physical properties. Two main forms of isomerism are structural or constitutional isomerism, in which bonds between the atoms differ; and stereoisomerism or spatial isomerism, in which the bonds are the same but the relative positions of the atoms differ.
