The project data will be organised in the following folder system : One main folder for the each subproject : GaN nonlinear optics and Optical trapping Each folder is organised in the following sub-folder system (not all may be used), each with a readme- ...

Phase imaging is widely used in biomedical imaging, sensing, and material characterization, among other fields. However, direct imaging of phase objects with subwavelength resolution remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrate subwavelength imaging of phase ...

Phase contrast imaging (PCI) is an established and powerful technique for measuring density fluctuations in plasmas and has been successfully applied to several fusion devices. Rooted in a concept first developed for microscopy, PCI belongs to the category ...

Battery research often encounters the challenge of determining chemical information, such as composition and elemental oxidation states, of a layer buried within a cell stack in a non-destructive manner. Spectroscopic techniques based on X-ray emission or ...

Energy transfer from electron-cyclotron (EC) waves to the plasma is being routinely used in tokamaks to heat and drive current through the electron channel. Technical applications such as magnetohydrodynamic mode mitigation require power deposition with a ...

Since 2020, synchrotron radiation facilities in several Asia-Pacific countries have been collaborating in a major project called "SYNAPSE"(Synchrotrons for Neuroscience: an Asia-Pacific Scientific Enterprise). They use x-ray imaging to attack in a coordina ...

High-throughput synchrotron-based tomographic microscopy at third generation light sources allows to probe cm-sized samples at micrometer-resolution. In this work, we present an approach to image a full mouse brain. With Indian-ink as a contrast agent, it ...

A core fluctuation diagnostic based on the phase-contrast imaging (PCI) technique has been designed for the JT-60SA tokamak, with the assistance of a synthetic diagnostic coupled to a gyrokinetic code. Using a tangentially viewing geometry, this system wou ...

In this article, we present an X-ray tomographic imaging method that is well suited for pulmonary disease studies in animal models to resolve the full pathway from gas intake to gas exchange. Current state-of-the-art synchrotron-based tomographic phase-con ...

Optical microscopy is one widely used tool to study cell functions and the interaction of molecules at a sub-cellular level. Optical microscopy techniques can be broadly divided into two categories: partially coherent and incoherent. Coherent microscopy te ...

Optical flat-fielding systems, such as field-mapping or integration-based beam shapers, are used to transform nonuniform illumination into uniform illumination. Thus, flat-fielding paves the way for imaging that is independent of position within a field of ...

The Bernina instrument at the SwissFEL Aramis hard X-ray free-electron laser is designed for studying ultrafast phenomena in condensed matter and material science. Ultrashort pulses from an optical laser system covering a large wavelength range can be used ...

In order to show the advantage and potential of propagation-based phase-contrast synchrotron imaging in vascular pathology research, we analyzed aortic medial ruptures in BAPN/AngII-infused mice, a mouse model for aortic dissection. Ascending and thoraco-a ...

Handwritten characters in administrative antique documents from three centuries have been detected using different synchrotron X-ray imaging techniques. Heavy elements in ancient inks, present even for everyday administrative manuscripts as shown by X-ray ...

We develop a high-performance scheme to reconstruct straight-ray tomographic scans. We preserve the quality of the state-of-the-art schemes typically found in traditional computed tomography but reduce the computational cost substantially. Our approach is ...

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a system in which off-axis digital holographic microscopy is realized using a broadband illumination source. Single-shot holographic measurements are enabled, while the coherence noise is removed thanks to the broa ...

One of the core pathological features of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the accumulation of amyloid plaques in the brain. Current efforts of medical imaging research aim at visualizing amyloid plaques in living patients in order to evaluate the progression of ...

Recent studies at high magnetic fields using the phase of gradient-echo MR images have shown the ability to unveil cortical substructure in the human brain. To investigate the contrast mechanisms in phase imaging, this study extends, for the first time, ph ...

A focus-detector arrangement of an X-ray apparatus is disclosed for generating projective or tomographic phase contrast recordings with a phase grating. According to at least one embodiment of the invention, in the gaps between its bars, the phase grating ...

A bundled electron beam (BEB) (14) is controlled regarding its excursion in its direction by two pairs of plate electrodes (17.1,17.2;18.1,18.2) that operate vertically to each other. The BEB can use appropriate control of these plate electrodes to scan an ...
