The addition of a compact titanium dioxide (TiO2) layer between the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) coated glass substrate and the mesoporous TiO2 layer in the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) based on the iodide/triiodide redox couple (I-/I-3(-)) is known t ...

The influence of interface modification of sensitized TiO2 surfaces by co-adsorbents on photovoltaic performance is detailed. We investigated different functional groups of co-adsorbents, such as carboxylic (4-guanidino butyric acid, chenodeoxycholic acid) ...

To clarify the intrinsic factor of the superior catalytic activity of tungsten (W)-based catalysts in DSSCs, W-based compounds, including W18O49, W2N, WC, and WO3, were prepared as CEs and tested in I-/I-3(-) redox shuttle. A systematic investigation of th ...

A PbS:Hg quantum dots-sensitized solar cell (QDSC) combined with a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) to harvest panchromatic solar spectrum from the visible light to the near IR is demonstrated. We use the filter to split the solar energy and access the tota ...

Regeneration of dye sensitizer molecules by reducing species contained in the electrolyte is a key mechanism in liquid dye-sensitized solar cells because it competes kinetically with a detrimental charge recombination process. Kinetics of the reduction by ...

Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) represents a reliable technology, ready for the market and able to compete with silicon solar cells for specific fields of application. Porphyrin dyes allow reaching high power conversion efficiency in conjunction with cob ...

There are only few semiconducting materials that have been shaping the progress of third generation photovoltaic cells as much as perovskites. Although they are deceivingly simple in structure, the archetypal AMX(3)-type perovskites have built-in potential ...

In this paper, we present a way of utilizing thin and conformal overlayer of titanium dioxide on insulating mesoporous template as a photoanode for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC). Different thicknesses of TiO2 ranging from 1 nm to 15 nm are deposited on ...

Titania nanofibers were fabricated using the industrial Nanospider (TM) technology. The preparative protocol was optimized by screening various precursor materials to get pure anatase nanofibers. Composite films were prepared by mixing a commercial paste o ...

Acceptor motifs based on nitrogen containing heterocycles have been synthesized for use in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Through the selective addition of nitrogen atoms and increased conjugation of the nitrogen containing heterocycles the excited-sta ...

TiO2 nanorod arrays were prepared on top of a transparent conductive glass substrate covered with a thin TiO2 compact layer. Solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (SSDSCs) were fabricated using these structured TiO2 films sensitized with C106 dye as a pho ...

Strong scientific interests focus on the investigation of iodine-free redox couples for their application in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Recently, a disulfide/thiolate-based redox electrolyte has been proposed as a valuable alternative to the conven ...

A nanocrystalline TiO2 (anatase) nanosheet ex- posing mainly the (001) crystal faces was tested as photo- anode material in dye-sensitized solar cells. The nanosheets were prepared by hydrothermal growth in HF medium. Good-quality thin films were deposited ...

Herein, we present a straightforward bottom-up synthesis of a high electron mobility and highly light scattering macroporous photoanode for dye-sensitized solar cells. The dense three-dimensional Al/ZnO, SnO2, or TiO2 host integrates a conformal passivatio ...

Stacked multijunction (tandem) solar cells have been prepared by mechanically stacking dye-sensitised solar cells (DSCs) and a GaAs/AlXGa(1-X)As graded solar cell (GGC) as the top and bottom cells, respectively. Three organic dyes with different absorption ...

Ionic liquids have been identified as a new class of solvent that offers opportunities to move away from the traditional solvents. The physical-chemical properties of ionic liquids can be tuned and controlled by tailoring their structures. The typical prop ...

A highly efficient heteroleptic ruthenium (II) complex cis-di(thiocyanato)(4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-di-(2-(4-ditolylamine phenyl)ethenyl)-2,2'-bipyridine) ruthenium (II) (IJ-1) was synthesized and characterized, which when anchored on n ...

An investigation of the function of an indolene-based organic dye, termed D149, incorporated in to solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells using 2,2',7,7'- tetrakis(N,N-di-p-methoxypheny-amine)-9,9' - spirobifluorene (spiro-OMeTAD) as the hole transport mat ...

We use the optical transfer-matrix method to quantify the spatial distribution of light in solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs), employing material optical properties measured experimentally in the accompanying article (Part I) as input into the o ...
