Heat transfer differs in the regions where the flow is developed and developing thermally. These regions can be differentiated by using the thermal entry length. Many researchers have presented correlations to determine the thermal entry length for natural ...

In this paper, we present metriplectic extensions of the Lie–Poisson dynamics of fluid flows over the unit annulus for both the Lebesgue [Formula: see text]-pairing and the Sobolev [Formula: see text]-pairing. Several examples are provided including 2D Nav ...

Extreme weather events are increasing in frequency in recent years due to global climate change. These events damage infrastructure and pose an open challenge to engineers to design more weather-resistant infrastructure. As engineers, we turn to nature fo ...

We study the problem of group testing with non-identical, independent priors. So far, the pooling strategies that have been proposed in the literature take the following approach: a hand-crafted test design along with a decoding strategy is proposed, and g ...

A significant project such as the FCC-ee (with 91.17 km circumference) entails numerous challenges to ensure the stability and performance of the machine. In the pursuit of contributing to the improvement of energy consumption during its operation, the exp ...

The bodies of most swimming fishes are very flexible and deform as result of both external fluid dynamic forces and internal musculoskeletal forces. If fluid forces change, the body motion will also change unless the fish senses the change and alters its m ...

Exploring a wide range of design options is crucial for every sound conceptual design process. In the conventional structural design workflow, optimization techniques are generally employed to generate well-performing design options. However, focusing only ...

This manuscript describes the design work and the R&D activities carried out for the third-generation neutron production target in the neutron Time-Of-Flight (n_TOF) facility at the European Laboratory for Particle Physics (CERN). The facility is composed ...

Multiscale phenomena are involved in countless problems in fluid mechanics. Coating flows are known to exhibit a broad variety of patterns, such as wine tears in a glass and dripping of fresh paint applied on a wall. Coating flows are typically modeled und ...

Long global gyrokinetic turbulence simulations are particularly challenging in situations where the system deviates strongly from its initial state and when fluctuation levels are high, for example, in strong gradient regions. For particle-in-cell simulati ...

We lack consensus on a unified definition for window view quality that is applicable across occupancies and building types. In addition, while this is a topic of growing interest, there is limited research underway due to its complex nature, insufficient f ...

In this study, we present a technical and economic assessment of high-current HTS bus bars for primary use in fusion reactors. Our objective is to verify the technical feasibility of such conductors and, for this purpose, we carry out a conceptual design o ...

The widespread use of bots to support software development makes social coding platforms such as GitHub a particularly rich source of data for the study of human-bot interaction. Software development bots are used to automate repetitive tasks, interacting ...

One of the key observations in the Princeton Superpipe was the late start of the logarithmic mean velocity overlap layer at a wall distance of the order of 10(3) inner units. Between y(+) approximate to 150, the start of the overlap layer in zero pressure ...
