A new 3.2 mm 1H–19F–X magic angle spinning dynamic nuclear polarization NMR (MAS DNP-NMR) probe was developed with a unique coil design with separate radiofrequency channels for 1H excitation and 13C or 19F detection to enable acquisition of 1H–19F cross-p ...

The effect of elevated temperatures and subsequent rehydration on the microscopic mechanical properties and physicochemical changes of cement pastes was investigated. Cement pastes with different grades (CEM I 42.5, CEM I 52.5) and different water-to-cemen ...

Whole-brain proton magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (H-1-MRSI) is a non-invasive technique for assessing neurochemical distribution in the brain, offering valuable insights into brain functions and neural diseases. It greatly benefits from the impr ...

A novel fast 3D-31P-B+1 mapping method called the frequency-selective Double-AngleMethod (fDAM) has been developed. This method integrates a 3D weighted stack of spiral gradient echo acquisitions with a frequency-selective pulse to efficiently map B+1 fiel ...

One route to the control of quantum magnetism at ultrafast timescales is magnetophononics, the modulation of magnetic interactions by coherently driven lattice excitations. Theoretical studies of a gapped quantum magnet subject to continuous, single-freque ...

Efficient polarizing agents for dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) enhanced magic angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectroscopy is of high current interest due the potential to significantly boost NMR sensitivity. While most efforts have centered on cross-effect ( ...

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is fundamental in the natural sciences, from chemical analysis and structural biology, to medicine and physics. Despite its enormous achievements, one of its most severe limitations is the low sensitivity, which arises from ...

We investigate the magnetic structure and magnetoelectric(ME) effect in the high -field phase of the antiferromagnet LiFePO 4 above the critical field of 31 T. A neutron diffraction study in pulsed magnetic fields reveals the propagation vector to be q = 0 ...

This thesis investigates the magnetic properties of single atoms and molecules adsorbed on thin magnesium oxide decoupling layers, grown on a silver single crystal. To address these systems experimentally, we use a low temperature scanning tunneling micros ...

Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) combined with high magnetic fields and fast magic angle spinning (MAS) has opened up a new avenue for the application of exceptionally sensitive 1H NMR detection schemes to study protonated solids. Recently, it has been s ...

129Xe dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) is a controversial topic. The gold standard technique for hyperpolarized xenon magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is spin exchange optical pumping, which received FDA approval in 2022. Nevertheless, the ve ...

In sub-Mediterranean ecosystems, shade-tolerant broadleaf evergreens, especially the invasive Trachycarpus fortunei, are spreading uncontrollably in the forest understorey, impeding the regeneration of the native deciduous woody vegetation. Most invasive s ...

Conducting neutron scattering experiments in the presence of high pulsed magnetic fields, namely above 40 T, provides valuable information about the magnetic structures of materials. However, these experiments are challenging and time-consuming because the ...

We have performed electrochemical treatment of the van der Waals antiferromagnetic materials FePS3 and NiPS3 with the ionic liquid EMIM-BF4, achieving significant molecular intercalation. Mass analysis of the intercalated compounds, EMIMx-FePS3 and EMIMx-N ...

The implementation of three-dimensional magnetic fields, such as the ones of stellarators, in the GBS code (Ricci et al 2012 Plasma Phys. Control. Fusion54 124047; Giacomin et al 2022 J. Comput. Phys.464 111294) is presented, and simulation results are dis ...

The design point that had been chosen for EU DEMO in 2016 is reviewed here and a modification is proposed with a lower aspect ratio. Previously the same aspect ratio, A, was chosen for EU DEMO as in major tokamak experiments including ITER (A = 3.1), and, ...

Motivation is a multifaceted phenomenon that we explore within the framework of decision-making. Through this cognitive process, actions are directed towards specific goals by performing a trade-off between the cost and benefit of an action. The dorsomedia ...

Dynamic nuclear polarisation (DNP) of solids doped with high-spin metal ions, such as Gd3+, is a useful strategy to enhance the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) sensitivity for these samples. Spin diffusion can relay polarisation throughout a sample, which ...

Low throughput is one of dissolution Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (dDNP) main shortcomings. Especially for clinical and preclinical applications, where direct 13C nuclei polarization is usually pursued, it takes hours to generate one single hyperpolarized ...
