Fuzzers aware of the input grammar can explore deeper program states using grammar-aware mutations. Existing grammar-aware fuzzers are ineffective at synthesizing complex bug triggers due to: (i) grammars introducing a sampling bias during input generation ...

This study presents the development and evaluation of a novel shell-and-tube heat exchanger (STHX) design with segmental porous baffles. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in combination with machine learning tools are utilized to investigate the thermo-hy ...

Dynamically-scheduled elastic circuits generated by High-Level Synthesis (HLS) tools are inherently out-of-order, following the flow of data rather than the evolution of an instruction pointer. Components of the circuit which access memory need to be conne ...

C++ relies on object type information for dynamic dispatch and casting. The association of type information to an object is implemented via the virtual table pointer, which is stored in the object itself. As C++ has neither memory nor type safety, adversar ...

The main challenge of medium-frequency transformers is the number of design parameters, constraints and objectives, and the difficulty of handling them on a particular design. This paper presents a novel computer-aided optimal design for MF transformers us ...

Synthesis from examples enables non-expert users to generate programs by specifying examples of their behavior. A domain-specific form of such synthesis has been recently deployed in a widely used spreadsheet software product. In this paper we contribute t ...

Bio-hybrid systems made of robots and animals can be useful tools both for biology and robotics. To socially integrate robots into animal groups the robots should behave in a biomimetic manner with close loop interactions between robots and animals. Behavi ...

The performance of evolutionary algorithms can be heavily undermined when constraints limit the feasible areas of the search space. For instance, while Covariance Matrix Adapta- tion Evolution Strategy is one of the most efficient algorithms for unconstrai ...

Asymmetric cell division is essential for normal human brain development. Mutations in several genes encoding centrosomal proteins that participate in accurate cell division have been reported to cause autosomal recessive primary microcephaly (MCPH). By ho ...

The ScalaDyno compiler plugin allows fast prototyping with the Scala programming language, in a way that combines the benefits of both statically and dynamically typed languages. Static name resolution and type checking prevent partially-correct code from ...

Over the last two decades, the identification of missense mutations in the alpha-synuclein (alpha-Syn) gene SNCA in families with inherited Parkinson disease (PD) has reinforced the central role of alpha-Syn in PD pathogenesis. Recently, a new missense mut ...

The sugarcane industry has been responsible in some countries for the production of most of the sugar and ethanol available in the world for internal and external markets. In this sector, ethanol can be produced by fermentation of sugars obtained directly ...

The design and operating of energy systems are key issues for matching the energy supply and consumption. Several optimization methods based on the Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) have been developed for this purpose. However, due to the uncertaint ...

The manual design of adaptive controllers for robotic systems that face unpredictable environmental changes is often challenging. There is thus a growing interest in the development of automatic design tools to assist control engineers. One of the most com ...

This paper describes a new kind of genetic representation called analog genetic encoding (AGE). The representation is aimed at the evolutionary synthesis and reverse engineering of circuits and networks such as analog electronic circuits, neural networks, ...
