Current cryptographic solutions will become obsolete with the arrival of large-scale universal quantum computers. As a result, the National Institute of Standards and Technology supervises a post-quantum standardization process which involves evaluating ca ...

Since the advent of internet and mass communication, two public-key cryptographic algorithms have shared the monopoly of data encryption and authentication: Diffie-Hellman and RSA. However, in the last few years, progress made in quantum physics -- and mo ...

In this paper, we propose Rocca-S, an authenticated encryption scheme with a 256-bit key and a 256-bit tag targeting 6G applications bootstrapped from AES. Rocca-S achieves an encryption/decryption speed of more than 200 Gbps in the latest software environ ...

Side-channel attacks exploit a physical observable originating from a cryptographic device in order to extract its secrets. Many practically relevant advances in the field of side-channel analysis relate to security evaluations of cryptographic functions a ...

The pervasive adoption of field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) in both cyber-physical systems and the cloud has raised many security issues. Being integrated circuits, FPGAs are susceptible to fault and power side-channel attacks, which require physical ...

A near collision attack against the Grain v1 stream cipher was proposed by Zhang et al. in Eurocrypt 18. The attack uses the fact that two internal states of the stream cipher with very low hamming distance between them, produce similar keystream sequences ...

With the looming threat of large-scale quantum computers, a fair portion of recent cryptographic research has focused on examining cryptographic primitives from the perspective of a quantum adversary. Shor's 1994 result revealed that quantum computers can ...

The spectral decomposition of cryptography into its life-giving components yields an interlaced network of tangential and orthogonal disciplines that are nonetheless invariably grounded by the same denominator: their implementation on commodity computing p ...

Side-channel disassembly attacks recover CPU instructions from power or electromagnetic side-channel traces measured during code execution. These attacks typically rely on physical access, proximity to the victim device, and high sampling rate measuring in ...

Post-quantum cryptography is a branch of cryptography which deals with cryptographic algorithms whose hardness assumptions are not based on problems known to be solvable by a quantum computer, such as the RSA problem, factoring or discrete logarithms. This ...

Side-channel CPU disassembly is a side-channel attack that allows an adversary to recover instructions executed by a processor. Not only does such an attack compromise code confidentiality, it can also reveal critical information on the system’s internals. ...

Field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) combine hardware reconfigurability with a high degree of parallelism. Consequently, FPGAs offer performance gains and power savings for many applications. A recent trend has been to leverage the hardware versatility o ...

This article investigates the fin- and finger-number dependence of the total ionizing dose (TID) degradation in 16-nm bulk Si FinFETs at ultrahigh doses. n- and p-FinFETs designed with different numbers of fins and fingers are irradiated up to 500 Mrad(SiO ...

Public knowledge about the structure of a cryptographic system is a standard assumption in the literature and algorithms are expected to guarantee security in a setting where only the encryption key is kept secret. Nevertheless, undisclosed proprietary cry ...

Most of the cryptographic protocols that we use frequently on the internet are designed in a fashion that they are not necessarily suitable to run in constrained environments. Applications that run on limited-battery, with low computational power, or area ...

Threshold Implementations have become a popular generic technique to construct circuits resilient against power analysis attacks. In this paper, we look to devise efficient threshold circuits for the lightweight block cipher family SKINNY. The only threshol ...

We study the query-based attack against image retrieval to evaluate its robustness against adversarial examples under the black-box setting, where the adversary only has query access to the top-1 ranked unlabeled images from the database. Compared with que ...

We offer the first security analysis of cache compression, a promising architectural technique that is likely to appear in future mainstream processors. We find that cache compression has novel security implications because the compressibility of a cache l ...

Harnessing quantum randomness for the generation of random numbers is an important concept crucial for information security and many other computer-related applications. Quantum random number generators (QRNGs) are evolving from bulky, slow, and expensive ...

Recent works have demonstrated the possibility of extracting secrets from a cryptographic core running on an FPGA by means of remote power analysis attacks. To mount these attacks, an adversary implements a voltage fluctuation sensor in the FPGA logic, rec ...
