The electron cyclotron (EC) heating and current drive (H&CD) system developed for the ITER is made of 12 sets of high-voltage power supplies feeding 24 gyrotrons connected through 24 transmission lines (TL), to five launchers, four located in upper ports a ...

In order to complete the exploitation of the JET ITER-like Wall and to take full benefit from deuterium-tritium experiments on JET, a set of diagnostic system refurbishments or upgrades is in progress. These diagnostic enhancements focus mainly on neutron, ...

An integrated numerical system is established to model time-dependent behavior of the neoclassical tearing mode (NTM) in a tokamak which solves the modified Rutherford equation (MRE) by coupling with plasma transport, equilibrium, heating and current drive ...

Negative triangularity tokamak plasmas are subject of an increased interest both in existing experiments and in studies of core physics as well as power handling relevant to the fusion demonstration power reactor. The ideal MHD stability calculations for the negative triangularity plasma extend the investigation of the TCV tokamak beta limits and edge stability to double null shapes, lower aspect ratio and negative shear. In case of the negative triangularity, the 2nd stability access is closed for ballooni

This work describes the design, fabrication and laser trimming aspects of a low-cost compressive force sensor with analogue signal conditioning, designed for a medical syringe pump. First, the general design aspects are discussed, in view of facile and reliable batch production and measurement performance. Then, the circuit's trimming procedure is presented, featuring single- pass adjustment of sensor output in its final state, i.e. with all components mounted, without prior passive resistor trimming. Key w

The TORoidal Plasma EXperiment (TORPEX) is a Simple Magnetized Torus (SMT) where open helical magnetic field lines are obtained from the superposition of a small vertical component on the main toroidal field. The SMT configuration features the main driving mechanisms of plasma instabilities characterising the Scrape-Off Layer (SOL) of larger tokamak devices, making TORPEX a very attractive machine to perform fusion oriented studies of plasma turbulence. A new experimental set-up has been recently developed

Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA) is recommended in case of severe muscle deficiency, along with important joint wear. Although having a correct placement of the prosthesis after the operation and a recovery of the mobility, several cases of scapula fracture are reported, in the region of the scapular spine or the acromion. Complication occurs 3 to 9 months after the surgery and may necessitate a second intervention. Such fractures are likely to be provoked by important stresses in the scapula, due

Reversed shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) is recommended in case of severe muscle deficiency, along with important joint wear. Although having a correct placement of the prosthesis after the operation and a recovery of the mobility, several cases of scapula fracture are reported, in the region of the scapular spine or the acromion. Complication occurs 3 to 6 months after the surgery and may necessitate a second intervention. Such fractures are likely to be provoked by important stresses in the scapula, due to th

In the foreseen upgrade of the Tokamak-a-Configuration-Variable (TCV) it is planned to add 3MW of additional RF power (3rd harmonic X-mode, X3, top-launch) to the present Electron Cyclotron (EC) system. With the upgrade of the EC-system, bringing the total EC power in X3-mode to 4.5MW, and the installation of 1 MW of neutral beam injection, a new avenue will be opened allowing the extensive study of H-mode physics in TCV. The envisaged new gyrotrons (lMW, 126GHz) are based on a minimum redesign of the 140 G

In this project we are studying the design of district energy networks together with operation and investment optimization, as well as CO2 emissions, with different combination of available conversion technologies such as Biomass Gasification, Organic Rankine Cycle and Incinerators, including renewable resources like solar and biomass resources, to satisfy the energy demand in urban area. We use Energy Integrations concept for this purpose, as well as system modeling to simulate different conversion technol

Dramatic growth of urban populations in the developing countries is being a challenging issue in the upcoming decades. Tabriz is one of those megacities in the northwest of Iran with a rapid rate of development and modernization. As a consequence an urban-social segregation is being formed in the southeast of the city. To hinder such segregation a mix program that combines the traditional aspects of the urban development and modern life styles is proposed. Within this respect a residential complex built in

We investigate the redistribution of the neutral beam driven current in the presence of small scale turbulence in the ITER steady-state scenario. Gyrokinetic simulations show that anomalous transport of beam ions can be larger than collisional estimates. T ...
