We propose a test -time adaptation for 6D object pose tracking that learns to adapt a pre -trained model to track the 6D pose of novel objects. We consider the problem of 6D object pose tracking as a 3D keypoint detection and matching task and present a mo ...

Photometric stereo, a computer vision technique for estimating the 3D shape of objects through images captured under varying illumination conditions, has been a topic of research for nearly four decades. In its general formulation, photometric stereo is an ...

This paper proposes high-order accurate well-balanced (WB) energy stable (ES) adaptive moving mesh finite difference schemes for the shallow water equations (SWEs) with non flat bottom topography. To enable the construction of the ES schemes on moving mesh ...

Computational models have been widely employed to study the electrical stimulation of the nervous system. Still, most applications either study fundamental mechanisms underlying stimulation, or address qualitative scientific questions. When quantitative qu ...

Traditional fiber scattering models, based on ray optics, are missing some important visual aspects of fiber appearance. Previous work [Xia et al. 2020] on wave scattering from ideal extrusions demonstrated that diffraction produces strong forward scatteri ...

Despite the importance and pervasiveness of Wikipedia as one of the largest platforms for open knowledge, surprisingly little is known about how people navigate its content when seeking information. To bridge this gap, we present the first systematic large ...

Background and Objective: Event-based analog-to-digital converters allow for sparse bio-signal acquisition, enabling local sub-Nyquist sampling frequency. However, aggressive event selection can cause the loss of important bio-markers, not recoverable with ...

Byte-addressable non-volatile memory (NVM) allows programs to directly access storage using memory interface without going through the expensive conventional storage stack. However, direct access to NVM makes the NVM data vulnerable to software bugs and ha ...

This paper presents a distributed shadow dynamic consensus (DSDC) framework to address the generation company (GENCO) strategic bidding problem in the independent system operator (ISO) operation. First, each sub-group is defined according to the communicat ...

Intelligent fault diagnosis has been increasingly improved with the evolution of deep learning (DL) approaches. Recently, the emerging graph neural networks (GNNs) have also been introduced in the field of fault diagnosis with the goal to make better use o ...

Timely insights lead to business growth and scientific breakthroughs but require analytical engines that cope with the ever-increasing data processing needs. Analytical engines relied on rapid CPU improvements, yet the end of Dennard scaling stopped the fr ...

Chronic pain presents a tremendous personal, societal, and financial burden. Treatment options are often limited to managing symptoms as opposed to treating the causes, and the consequences of pharmacological treatments can be immensely harmful as evidence ...

Detecting people from 2D images and analyzing their motion in 3D have been long standing computer vision problems central to numerous applications such as autonomous driving and athletic training. Recently, with the availability of large amounts of trainin ...

Advances in soft sensors coupled with machine learning are enabling increasingly capable wearable systems. Since hand motion in particular can convey useful information for developing intuitive interfaces, glove-based systems can have a significant impact ...

VR (Virtual Reality) is a real-time simulation that creates the subjective illusion of being in a virtual world. This thesis explores how integrating the user's body and fingers can be achieved and beneficial for the user to experience VR. At the advent of ...

Tandem solar cells are a key technology for exceeding the theoretical efficiency limit of single-junction cells. One of the most promising combinations is the silicon-perovskite tandem cells, considering their potential for high efficiency, fabrication on ...

Object-centric learning has gained significant attention over the last years as it can serve as a powerful tool to analyze complex scenes as a composition of simpler entities. Well-established tasks in computer vision, such as object detection or instance ...

Acoustic emission (AE) monitoring is a useful technique to monitor the health of a structure continuously, helping to prevent potential failure. AE are elastic waves produced and emitted during fracture processes inside a material and are recorded by senso ...

Non-Rigid Structure-from-Motion (NRSfM) reconstructs a deformable 3D object from keypoint correspondences established between monocular 2D images. Current NRSfM methods lack statistical robustness, which is the ability to cope with correspondence errors. T ...

Human motion analysis and synthesis is integral to many computer vision applications, from autonomous driving to sports analysis. In this thesis, we address several problems in this domain. First we consider active viewpoint selection for pose estimation w ...
