To rank the performanceof materials for a given carbon captureprocess, we rely on pure component isotherms from which we predictthe mixture isotherms. For screening a large number of materials,we also increasingly rely on isotherms predicted from molecular ...

Large-area nanopore drilling is a major bottleneck in state-of-the-art nanoporous 2D membrane fabrication protocols. In addition, high-quality structural and statistical descriptions of as-fabricated porous membranes are key to predicting the corresponding ...

Heteroatom doping engineering is deemed to be an adoptable strategy to boost the potassium (K) storage performance of carbonaceous materials. The inevitable issue for this strategy lies in the huge volume expansion originated from the large radius of K+. I ...

The main focus of this thesis is the exploration of inorganic and metal-organic heterogeneous catalysts for hydrogen (H2) energy applications. In particular, we investigated metal nanoparticles (NPs) and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for their employment ...

Synthesis gas production through the catalytic reverse water-gas shift (RWGS) reaction is an attractive option for the conversion of CO2 to fuels. Many metal-based catalysts have been introduced for this reaction in order to provide high activity, CO selec ...

Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are a class of porous materials that are applicable in many energy and environmentally relevant areas, due to their unique features including unprecedented internal surface areas and easy chemical tunability. Gas separation ...

Direct and online continuous monitoring of anaesthetic intake by the patient's blood stream improves practices in the critical procedure of anaesthesia. Several systems have been proposed to address this challenge. Electrochemical techniques are highly app ...

Poly(triazine imide) or PTI is a promising material for molecular sieving membranes, thanks to its atom-thick ordered lattice with an extremely high density (1.6 x 10(14)pores per cm(2)) of triangular-shaped nanopores of similar to 0.34 nm diameter. Here, ...

High-resolution transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction, and electron energy-loss spectroscopy provide information on the structural evolution, dielectric function, and bandgap values of nanocrystalline 10nm thick lanthanum doped hafnia (La: ...

The development of a rapid and reproducible crystallization route for the synthesis of polycrystalline metal-organic framework (MOF) films is attractive for the scalable production of nanoporous membranes on porous supports. Prior crystallization studies h ...

The live demonstration presents the innovative concept of a portable pen-device able to sense anaesthetic compounds over time for improved anaesthesiology practice. A custom Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manage in the event-based quasi-digital domain the sam ...

Thermal engineering of metal-organic frameworks for adsorption-based applications is very topical in view of their industrial potential, in particular, since heat management and thermal stability have been identified as important obstacles. Hence, a fundam ...

Monitoring of patient response to the anaesthetic drugs is an attractive improvement for achieving a correct balance of sedation level, increasing the chance of success in the right procedure of anaesthesia. Nowadays, there are no commercial tools able to ...

Herein we present a detailed study of the hydrogen adsorption properties of Cu‐BTTri, a robust crystalline metal–organic framework containing open metal‐coordination sites. Diffraction techniques, carried out on the activated framework, reveal a structure ...

Metal–organic frameworks show both fundamental interest and great promise for applications in adsorption-based technologies, such as the separation and storage of gases. The flexibility and complexity of the molecular scaffold pose a considerable challenge ...

We examine the diffusion of methane in the metal organic frameworks M-2(dobdc) (M = Mg, Ni, Zn; dobdc(4-) = 2,5-diwddo-1,4-benzenedicarboxylate) as a function of methane loading through a combination of nuclear magnetic resonance and molecular dynamics sim ...

The present invention relates to the removal of carbon dioxide from gases. More particularly, the invention relates to the use of metal-organic frameworks for a selective adsorption of carbon dioxide from a gas. Further, the invention relates to a method f ...

In this work, we report the synthesis of SION-8, a novel metal-organic framework (MOF) based on Ca(II) and a tetracarboxylate ligand TBAPy(4-) endowed with two chemically distinct types of pores characterized by their hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties ...

The structure of a biological system defines its function. Therefore, nature has developed sophisticated systems that catalyze chemical reactions that are vital for life on earth. For instance, the photosynthesis is a biological process that is partially r ...

For applications of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) such as gas storage and separation, flexibility is often seen as a parameter that can tune material performance. In this work we aim to determine the optimal flexibility for the shape selective separation ...
