The application of digital technologies to historical newspapers has changed the research landscape historians were used to. An Eldorado? Despite undeniable advantages, the new digital affordance of historical newspapers also transforms research practices ...

High-level synthesis (HLS) tools typically generate statically scheduled datapaths. Static scheduling implies that the resulting circuits have a hard time exploiting parallelism in code with potential memory dependences, with control dependences, or where ...

High-level synthesis (HLS) is the process of automatically generating circuits out of high-level language descriptions. Previous research has shown that dynamically scheduled HLS through elastic circuit generation is successful at exploiting parallelism in ...

DNA-based nanomaterials are gaining popularity as uniform and programmable bioengineering tools as a result of recent solutions to their weak stability under biological conditions. The DNA nanotechnology platform uniquely allows decoupling of engineering p ...

High-level synthesis is a mature Electronics Design Automation (EDA) technology for building hardware design in a short time. It produces automatically HDL code for FPGAs out of C/C++, bridging the gap from algorithm to hardware. Nevertheless, sometimes th ...

A central task in high-level synthesis is scheduling: the allocation of operations to clock cycles. The classic approach to scheduling is static, in which each operation is mapped to a clock cycle at compile-time, but recent years have seen the emergence o ...

Approximate logic synthesis is an emerging field that tolerates errors in the synthesized logic circuits for better optimization quality. Indeed, in many computing problems, the requirement of preserving the exact functionality either results in unnecessar ...

Individual transistors based on emerging reconfigurable nanotechnologies exhibit electrical conduction for both types of charge carriers. These transistors (referred to as Reconfigurable Field-Effect Transistors (RFETs)) enable dynamic reconfiguration to d ...

This work proposes the first fine-grained configurable cell array specifically tailored for the implementation of cryptographic algorithms that can be configured using widely adopted hardware description languages. Our solution can be added as a small, cry ...

Nowadays electric power systems are subject to continuous changes and the needs in the power generation and delivery service are constantly increasing, with a higher complexity of a progressively more distributed network. Because the impact of a failure ca ...
