To date, galaxy image simulations for weak lensing surveys usually approximate the light profiles of all galaxies as a single or double Sérsic profile, neglecting the influence of galaxy substructures and morphologies deviating from such a simplified param ...

Atomic hydrogen (H i) serves a crucial role in connecting galactic-scale properties such as star formation with the large-scale structure of the Universe. While recent numerical simulations have successfully matched the observed covering fraction of H i ne ...

In the current JWST era, rest-frame UV spectra play a crucial role in enhancing our understanding of the interstellar medium (ISM) and stellar properties of the first galaxies in the epoch of reionization (z > 6). Here, we compare well-known and reliable o ...

The interstellar medium in the Milky Way's Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) is known to be strongly magnetised, but its large-scale morphology and impact on the gas dynamics are not well understood. We explore the impact and properties of magnetic fields in th ...

The Milky Way's stellar disc can tilt in response to torques that result from infalling satellite galaxies and their associated tidal debris. In this work, we explore the dynamics of disc tilting by running N-body simulations of mergers in an isolated, iso ...

We present the survey design, implementation, and outlook for COSMOS-Web, a 255 hr treasury program conducted by the James Webb Space Telescope in its first cycle of observations. COSMOS-Web is a contiguous 0.54 deg² NIRCam imaging survey in four filters ( ...

We investigate the role of dense environments in suppressing star formation by studying log(10)(M- * / M-?) > 9 . 7 star-forming galaxies in nine clusters from the Local Cluster Survey (0.0137 < z < 0.0433) and a large comparison field sample drawn from th ...

We present an analysis of the galaxy stellar mass function (SMF) of 14 known protoclusters between 2.0 < z < 2.5 in the COSMOS field, down to a mass limit of 10(9.5) M⊙. We use existing photometric redshifts with a statistical background subtraction, and c ...

The Euclid Space Telescope will provide deep imaging at optical and near-infrared wavelengths, along with slitless near-infrared spectroscopy, across similar to 15 000deg(2) of the sky. Euclid is expected to detect similar to 12 billion astronomical source ...

The selection of high-redshift galaxies often involves spectral energy distribution (SED) fitting to photometric data, an expectation for contamination levels, and measurement of sample completeness-all vetted through comparison to spectroscopic redshift m ...

The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, NASA's next flagship observatory, will redefine deep-field galaxy survey with a field of view two orders of magnitude larger than Hubble and an angular resolution of matching quality. These future deep-wide galaxy sur ...

We present initial results of a survey of host L-* galaxies environments in the Local Volume (D < 10 Mpc) searching for satellite dwarf galaxy candidates using the wide-field Hyper Suprime-Cam imager on the 8 m Subaru Telescope. This paper presents complet ...

We use the IllustrisTNG100 hydrodynamical simulation to study the dependence of the galaxy two-point correlation function on a broad range of secondary subhalo and galactic properties. We construct galaxy mock catalogues adopting a standard subhalo abundan ...

The nearby elliptical galaxy Centaurus A (Cen A) is surrounded by a flattened system of dwarf satellite galaxies with coherent motions. Using a novel Bayesian approach, we measured the mean rotation velocity nu(rot) and velocity dispersion sigma(int) of th ...

The cosmological information extracted from photometric surveys is most robust when multiple probes of the large scale structure of the Universe are used. Two of the most sensitive probes are the clustering of galaxies and the tangential shear of backgroun ...

Concentration is one of the key dark matter halo properties that could drive the scatter in the stellar-to-halo mass relation of massive clusters. We derive robust photometric stellar masses for a sample of brightest central galaxies (BCGs) in SDSS REDMAPP ...

The most metal-deficient stars hold important clues about the early buildup and chemical evolution of the Milky Way, and carbon-enhanced metal-poor (CEMP) stars are of special interest. However, little is known about CEMP stars in the Galactic bulge. In th ...

We study the modelling of the halo occupation distribution (HOD) for the eBOSS DR16 emission line galaxies (ELGs). Motivated by previous theoretical and observational studies, we consider different physical effects that can change how ELGs populate haloes. ...

We present the NLTE abundances of 10 chemical species in 65 very metal-poor stars in eight dSphs and the Milky Way halo. The classical dSphs Sculptor, Ursa Minor, Sextans, and Fornax reveal a similar plateau at [alpha/Fe] = 0.3 for each of Mg, Ca, and Ti, ...

In a framework where galaxies form hierarchically, extended stellar haloes are predicted to be an ubiquitous feature around Milky Way-like galaxies and to consist mainly of the shredded stellar component of smaller galactic systems. The type of accreted st ...
