Phase imaging is widely used in biomedical imaging, sensing, and material characterization, among other fields. However, direct imaging of phase objects with subwavelength resolution remains a challenge. Here, we demonstrate subwavelength imaging of phase ...

In this thesis work, we propose to exploit an innovative micro/nano-fabrication process, based on controlled fluid instabilities of a thin viscous film of chalcogenide glass. Amorphous selenium and arsenic triselenide were used in this thesis work, and com ...

The Fast Discharge Units (FDUs) of the Superconducting (SC) Toroidal Field (TF) coils in the European demonstration fusion power plant DEMO warrant the machine integrity over its full lifetime against severe failure events, such as SC coil quenches or any ...

This paper presents a broadband dual-polarized substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) slot antenna. It is analytically shown that by decreasing the permittivity of a dielectricloaded slot antenna, the resulting bandwidth increases significantly, where the wi ...

Environmental noise, mostly related to human activities, has an immense impact on public health. The development of noise reduction technologies is paramount in addressing this problem. Because of practical and economic reasons, a compact, broadband, light ...

Paschen failures in ITER, W7-X and JT60 superconducting coils at the acceptance tests have shown that it is highly desirable to lower the coil discharge voltage (U-d) of the DEMO Toroidal Field (TF) coils. Another benefit of lowering the U-d might be the r ...

In addition to a reduced number of feeders, which would simplify their integration in the cryostat of the tokamak, the present study considers the possibility to reduce the voltage during safety discharge of the toroidal field (TF) coils. A lowered dischar ...

A passive device comprising a hollow waveguide including first and second wall structures extending in a guiding direction, an interconnecting base extending between the wall structures and an enclosure extending between the wall structures, the enclosure ...

Narrow Bipolar Pulses are generated by bursts of electrical activity in the cloud and these are referred to as Compact Intracloud Discharges (CID) or Narrow Bipolar Events in the current literature. These discharges usually occur in isolation without much ...

Low-loss nanostructured dielectric metasurfaces have emerged as a breakthrough platform for ultrathin optics and cutting-edge photonic applications, including beam shaping, focusing, and holography. However, the static nature of their constituent materials ...

Intensive developments of plasmonic nanomaterials over recent decades have inspired appealing applications in biosensing, optical trapping, fluorescence enhancement and light harvesting in solar cells. These nanostructures supporting unique light-matter in ...

Light scattering by an array of alternating electric and magnetic nanoparticles is analyzed in detailed. Specific geometrical conditions are derived, where such an array behaves like double-negative particles, leading to a suppression of the backscattered ...

We observed that hard X-ray irradiation modifies the wettability of a variety of inorganic materials. The smooth surfaces of all tested inorganic materials (ZnO, p-Si, Al2O3, SrTiO3, TiN, ZnS, CuO, Ag2O, and Cr2O3) change during it-radiation to a state of ...

The surface polariton properties of TM or TE plane wave scattered by a coated cylinder are investigated in this paper. The coated cylinder (whose outer radius is much smaller than the wavelength) is assumed to be electrically small and low dissipative. Ana ...

The radical polymerization of bis-1,3(N,N,N-trimethylammonium)-2-propylmethacrylate dichloride revealed non-ideality with 0.59 and 4.4 for the reaction orders of the initiator and monomer concentration, respectively. Further, autoacceleration was observed ...

The modeling and design of metamaterial composite right/left handed transmission lines (CRLH-TL) is usually based on the assumption that its unit cell is small in terms of the host TL wavelength (d 0). However, it was also shown that this assumption is not ...
