Diazo compounds of the type R1R2CN2 are widely used in organometallic catalysis and synthetic chemistry. Stable diazoolefins, R1R2C=CN2, have only been isolated recently. Diazoolefins undergo cycloaddition reactions and tend to be carbon donors when used a ...

Current C2+ hydrocarbon production from fossil fuel feedstocks will in-time be replaced by alternate synthesis methods involving cleaner energy strategies. One approach is to incorporate direct sunlight during catalytic C2+ synthesis via the modified Fishe ...

The actinides possess a complex electronic structure, making their chemical and physical properties among the least understood in the periodic table. Advanced spectroscopic tools, able to obtain deep insights into the electronic structure and binding prope ...

Bicyclic carbocycles containing a high fraction of Csp3 have become highly attractive synthetic targets because of the multiple applications they have found in medicinal chemistry. The formal cycloaddition of bicyclobutanes (BCBs) with two- or three-atom p ...

Cyclopropenes are the smallest unsaturated carbocycles. Removing one substituent from cyclopropenes leads to cyclopropenium cations (C3 + systems, CPCs). Stable aromatic pi-type CPCs were discovered by Breslow in 1957 by removing a substituent on the aliph ...

Peripheral functionalization of a quaternary carbon via C(sp 3)−H bond activation has made significant progress in recent years. However, direct editing of a quaternary carbon through Csp 3 −Csp 3 bond cleavage and refunctionalization of nonstrained acycli ...

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have firmly established in the field of porous materials since their early discovery in the 1990s. With a plethora of applications, these materials offer endless possibilities owing to their tunable, modular nature. The vast ...

High-entropy alloys (HEAs), containing several metallic elements in near-equimolar proportions, have long been of interest for their unique mechanical properties. More recently, they have emerged as a promising platform for the development of novel heterog ...

Transition metal-catalyzed C-H activation is a powerful tool for the synthesis of organic building blocks, materials, and natural products. Over the last decade, directing-group-assisted metal-catalyzed C-H functionalization has attracted increasing intere ...

End-on binding of dinitrogen to low valent metal centres is common in transition metal chemistry but remains extremely rare in f-elements chemistry. In particular, heterobimetallic end-on N2 bridged complexes of lanthanides are unprecedented despite their ...

Oxidase-type oxidation is an attractive strategy in organic synthesis due to the use of O-2 as the terminal oxidant. Organic photocatalysis can effect metal-free oxidase chemistry. Nevertheless, current methods are limited in reaction scope, possibly due t ...

Catalysts play a major role in chemical synthesis, and catalysis is considered to be a green and economic process. Catalysis is dominated by covalent interactions between the catalyst and substrate. The design of non-covalent catalysts came into limelight ...

A warping-inclusive kinematic coupling method to be used in finite-element analysis of members featuring wide-flange cross sections is proposed in this paper. This coupling method is used in mixed-dimension macromodels that combine continuum and beam-colum ...

The alkyne motif is a versatile functional group often encountered in organic chemistry. It can be involved in various transformations such as the alkyne-azide cycloaddition and has found widespread application in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology and ...

We report an enantioselective palladium-catalyzed trans-hydroalkoxylation of propargylic amines with a trifluoroacetaldehydederived tether to build chiral oxazolidines. Diastereoselective hydrogenation using a heterogeneous palladium catalyst then gave acc ...

In modular robotics, there is classically a compromise between coupling complexity and functionality. The mechanical and electrical designs are linked, such that adding electrical features often requires redesigning the mechanical components. However, incr ...

The combination of palladium salts and bipyridyl ligands can lead to the formation of a large variety of coordination complexes, with different shapes and sizes, displaying a very versatile host-guest chemistry. Increasing their structural complexity remai ...

Natural gas (NG) is a suitable alternative to gasoline and diesel fuels to decrease the carbon footprint of the mobility and energy sectors. Although NG is considered a fossil fuel, methane (CH4), its main component, can be produced industrially from power ...

Combining superconducting resonators and quantum dots has triggered tremendous progress in quantum information, however, attempts at coupling a resonator to even charge parity spin qubits have resulted only in weak spin-photon coupling. Here, we integrate ...

Membrane electrode assembly (MEA) electrolyzers offer a means to scale up CO2-to-ethylene electroconversion using renewable electricity and close the anthropogenic carbon cycle. To date, excessive CO2 coverage at the catalyst surface with limited active si ...
