Catalytic hydrothermal gasification (cHTG) is a sustainable and promising route to convert wet biomass into renewable methane, but the catalyst is deactivated by small amounts of soluble sulfate stemming from the biomass feedstock. Under hydrothermal condi ...

One of the main goals of organometallic chemistry in the last decades was the activation of small molecule in mild reaction conditions. Even though multiple examples of catalytic cycles able to produce fine chemicals from cheap and abundant sources using t ...

Clathrochelate complexes of cobalt are known in the oxidation states I, II, and III. Low-valent Co(I) complexes are highly reactive compounds, and there is only limited knowledge about their structures in the solid state. Herein, we describe the crystallog ...

Radioactive iodine-129 (I-129) and technetium-99 (Tc-9(9)) pose a risk to groundwater due to their long half-lives, toxicity, and high environmental mobility. Based on literature reviewed in Moore et al. (2019) and Pearce et aL (2019), natural and engineer ...

This thesis describes the design and synthesis of clathrochelate metalloligands for the construction of molecular nanostructures. The low synthetic effort, versatility and stability of the clathrochelate metalloligands makes them particularly suited to the ...

Molecular uranium nitride complexes were prepared to relate their small molecule reactivity to the nature of the U & xe001;N & xe001;U bonding imposed by the supporting ligand. The U4+-U4+ nitride complexes, [NBu4][{(((BuO)-Bu-t)(3)SiO)(3)U}(2)(mu-N)], [NB ...

The development of new processes for the selective and sustainable transformation of abundant small molecules constitutes one of the major research areas in inorganic and organometallic chemistry. These molecules as CO2, CO, N2 and H2 are abundant reservoi ...

Marine emissions of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) to the atmosphere play a fundamental role in the global sulfur (5) cycle and have important consequences for the Earth's radiative balance. In the ocean, DMS is mainly produced by marine algae and bacteria via cle ...

The reactions of the tetrasiloxide U(III) complexes [U(OSi(OtBu)3)4K] and [U(OSi(OtBu)3)4][K18c6] with 0.5 equiv. of triphenylphosphine sulfide led to reductive S-transfer reactions, affording the U(IV) sulfide complexes [SU(OSi(OtBu)3)4K2]2, 1, and [{SU(O ...

This study experimentally analyzes the performance and degradation issues of an anode supported (AS) Ni-YSZ solid oxide fuel cell exposed to thiophene (C4H4S). The impact of this organic sulfur compound on the performance of SOFC Ni-YSZ anodes is reported ...

A series of sulfonium salts derived from 1,5-dithiopent-1-enopyranosides was prepared in a three-step sequence from protected D- and L-erythrofuranoses. The key step is the nucleophilic displacement of a leaving group by a sulfur atom of carbohydrate-deriv ...

A series of neutral ruthenium(II) arene complexes [(arene)Ru(Q(R))Cl] (arene = p-cymene (cym) or hexamethylbenzene (hmb)) containing 4-acyl-5-pyrazolonate Q(R) ligands with different electronic and steric substituents (R = 4-cyclohexyl, 4-stearoyl, or 4-ad ...

Profiles of the major sulfur functional groups in mature Norway spruce wood tissue have been established for the first time. The big challenge was the development of a method suitable for sulfur speciation in samples with very low sulfur content (

The cationic complexes [(η6-arene)Ru(SC5H4NH)3]2+, arene being C6H6 (1), MeC6H5 (2), p-iPrC6H4Me (3) or C6Me6 (4), have been synthesized from the reaction of 4-pyridinethiol with the corresponding precursor (η6-arene)2Ru2(μ2-Cl)2Cl2 and isolated as the chl ...

The detailed description of gas streams in biomass gasification plants is necessary for the correct design and operation of these units. Sulfur containing compounds are usually present in biomass gasification gas, since sulfur is typically found in the fee ...

Atmospheric trace gases and aerosols and climate interact in many ways. A quantitative assessment of the influence of trace gases and aerosols on climate can only be achieved if the interactions and feedbacks among these three major components are accounte ...

A series of cationic dinuclear p-cymene ruthenium complexes containing three thiolato bridges with different substituents at the sulfur atoms, (eta(6)-p-(MeC6H4Pr)-Pr-i)(2)Ru-2(mu(2)-SR1)(2)(mu(2)-SR2) (R-1 = CH2Ph, R-2 = Ph: 4; R-1 = CH2Ph, R-2 = p-( ...

This thesis encompasses work on the coordination chemistry and catalytic activity of half sandwich ruthenium(II)-arene phosphine complexes. The investigation of phosphine dissociation and association reactions of these complexes represents the unifying the ...

[Fe]-hydrogenase, one of three types of hydrogenases, activates molecular hydrogen. Here, using DFT computations, we examine the electronic elements governing the binding of small ligands to a recently synthesized [Fe]-hydrogenase biomimic. Computed reacti ...

Ru-II(arene) complexes of the general formula [Ru-II(eta(6)-p-cymene)(PPh3)(L)Cl]PF6 with L = P- or N-donor systems have been synthesized and characterized. Carbohydrate-derived phosphites, imidazole or indazole have been chosen as co-ligands and different ...
