The Hubble constant (H-0) is one of the fundamental parameters in cosmology, but there is a heated debate around the > 4 sigma tension between the local Cepheid distance ladder and the early Universe measurements. Strongly lensed Type Ia supernovae (LSNe I ...

This letter presents closed-loop position control of a pneumatically actuated modular robotic platform "pneumagami" that can be stacked to enlarge work and design space for wearable applications. The module is a 3 degrees of freedom (DoF) parallel robot wi ...

This study aimed to introduce and validate a new method to estimate and correct the orientation drift measured from foot-worn inertial sensors. A modified strap-down integration (MSDI) was proposed to decrease the orientation drift, which, in turn, was fur ...

Timberfabric structures, developed at IBOIS, are a new family of timber constructions based on the logic and principles of man-made fabrics. Modular elements called “Timberfabric Modules” are generated by curving and connecting two thin wooden panels. This ...

The joint angles of multi-segment foot models have been primarily described using two mathematical methods: the joint coordinate system and the attitude vector. This study aimed to determine whether the angles obtained through these two descriptors are com ...

Tripping is considered a major cause of fall in older people. Therefore, foot clearance (i.e., height of the foot above ground during swing phase) could be a key factor to better understand the complex relationship between gait and falls. This paper presen ...

Despite the large success of games grounded on movement-based interactions the current state of full-body motion capture technologies still prevents the exploitation of precise interactions with complex environments. The first key requirement in the line o ...

This paper introduces a new methodology to design modular industrial ultra-high precision robots; it aims at significantly reducing both the complexity of their design and their development time. This modular concept can be considered as a robotic Lego®, w ...

In the framework of virtual prototyping, a virtual human is a useful tool to evaluate what one can reach or see. However because engineers and industrial designers are not necessarily skilled animators, it is important to provide intuitive or high-level in ...

We present a probabilistic architecture for solving generically the problem of extracting the task constraints through a Programming by Demonstration (PbD) framework and for generalizing the acquired knowledge to various situations. In previous work, we pr ...
