Hydrogen, known for its high energy content and clean combustion, is promising in the energy transition. This study explores the environmental impact of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system. 1 kg of hydrogen production at 1 bar serves as the functional un ...

Diazo compounds of the type R1R2CN2 are widely used in organometallic catalysis and synthetic chemistry. Stable diazoolefins, R1R2C=CN2, have only been isolated recently. Diazoolefins undergo cycloaddition reactions and tend to be carbon donors when used a ...

A high-entropy liquid metal alloy (Ga-Fe-Zn-Sn-Bi-Ni) is developed to address the multi-step complexity of green ammonia electrosynthesis from nitrate. Guided by molecular dynamics, design of experiments, and density functional theory, this alloy exploits ...

The alkyne motif is a versatile functional group often encountered in organic chemistry. It can be involved in various transformations such as the alkyne-azide cycloaddition and has found widespread application in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology and ...

Cyclopropenes are the smallest unsaturated carbocycles. Removing one substituent from cyclopropenes leads to cyclopropenium cations (C3 + systems, CPCs). Stable aromatic pi-type CPCs were discovered by Breslow in 1957 by removing a substituent on the aliph ...

Cyclic sulfones have demonstrated important applications in drug discovery. However, the catalytic and enantioselective synthesis of chiral cyclic sulfones remains challenging. Herein, we develop nickel-catalyzed regiodivergent and enantioselective hydroal ...

This work proposes a novel hydrogen-based desalination system to replace fossil fuelbased plants. The system has a water-hydrogen nexus framework to achieve an efficient operation, providing electricity, potable water, and green hydrogen. Through optimal p ...

Chiral carbon-carbon (C-C) and carbon-heteroatom (C-X) bonds are pervasive and very essential in natural products, bioactive molecules, and functional materials, and their catalytic construction has emerged as one of the hottest research fields in syntheti ...

Kinetically fast racemization of chiral substrates through an achiral intermediate and enantioselective functionalization of one of the enantiomeric substrates forms the basis of the dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of centrally chiral molecules. We report ...

An asymmetric 3-component reaction between EthynylBenziodoXoles (EBXs), 2,2,2-trifluorodiazoethane and nucleophiles catalyzed by a CuI-BOX (Bisoxazoline) catalyst is described. This protocol gives access to chiral trifluoromethylated propargyl ethers and a ...

The development of efficient and sustainable methods for the construction of carbon-carbon bonds with the simultaneous stereoselective generation of vicinal stereogenic centers is a longstanding goal in organic chemistry. Low-valent nickel(0) complexes whi ...

The first chapter of this thesis describe the development of a general synthesis of ynimines, an under-exploited motif in organic chemistry. In the presence of an inexpensive copper catalyst and 2,2'-biquinoline, reaction of easily accessible O-acyloximes ...

Alkynes are found in a multitude of natural or synthetic bioactive compounds. In addition to the capacity of these chemical motifs to impact the physicochemical properties of a molecule of interest, the well-established reactivity of alkynes makes them ide ...

Catalytic hydrogenations are important and widely applied processes for the reduction of organic compounds both in academic laboratories and in industry. To perform these reactions in sustainable and practical manner, the development and applicability of n ...

In summary, the development of the catalytically formed chiral auxiliary concept is described. In this approach, an oxazolidine auxiliary is installed via enantioselective Pd catalysis from readily available starting materials in an enantioselective tether ...

Cobalt(II) complexes featuring hexadentate amino-pyridyl ligands have been recently discovered as highly active catalysts for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER), whose high performance arises from the possibility of assisting proton transfer processes v ...

Transition-metal-catalyzed [4+2] heteroannulation of alpha,beta-unsaturated oximes and their derivatives with alkynes has been developed into a powerful strategy for the synthesis of pyridines. It nevertheless lacks regioselectivity when unsymmetrically su ...

Herein we report a mild synthesis of propargyl silanes from terminal alkynes. We exploit a bromonaphthyl-substituted silane as a silylmethyl electrophile surrogate, which participates in a Sonogashira reaction after an aryl-to-alkyl Pd-migration. Twenty-se ...

Tetrel Lewis acids are a prospective alternative to commonly employed neutral boranes in frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) chemistry. While cationic tetrylium Lewis acids, being isolobal and iso(valence)electronic, are a natural replacement to boranes, neutral t ...

The development of new catalytic methods for organic synthesis is a critical endeavour in order to obviate the economic and ecological drawbacks of stoichiometric organic synthesis. While catalysis can offer significant advantages in terms of atom-economy, ...
