Phase correction (PC) is a preprocessing technique that exploits the phase of images acquired in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) to obtain real-valued images containing tissue contrast with additive Gaussian noise, as opposed to magnitude images which fol ...

Inductive proximity sensors are low-cost and versatile detectors achieving resolutions in the nm and sub-nm range. Their typical working frequency ranges from tens of kHz to a few MHz. Operation at higher frequencies is considered as a possible route for t ...

We consider the group testing problem, in which one seeks to identify a subset of defective items within a larger set of items based on a number of noisy tests. While matching achievability and converse bounds are known in several cases of interest for i.i ...

We study the nonlinear stochastic heat equation in the spatial domain R, driven by space-time white noise. A central special case is the parabolic Anderson model. The initial condition is taken to be a measure on R, such as the Dirac delta function, but th ...

Fourier transform mass spectrometry (FTMS) enables comprehensive analysis of complex molecular mixtures. Given the broad intensity ranges of components in the mass spectra, it is imperative to accurately determine a noise threshold level above which peak a ...

A partitioned implicit-explicit orthogonal Runge-Kutta method (PIROCK) is proposed for the time integration of diffusion-advection-reaction problems with possibly severely stiff reaction terms and stiff stochastic terms. The diffusion terms are solved by t ...

In this work we tackled the problem of accurate measurement of internal–external (IE) rotations in the prosthetic knee. We presented a magnetic measurement system to be implanted in the knee prostheses in order to measure IE without soft tissue artifacts. ...

We present a shot noise based model for a large family of ultrawide bandwidth (UWB) signals. These include time-hopping and direct-sequence signaling with pulse position, interval, and amplitude modulations. Each specific signal is constructed by adding fe ...
