Single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM) describes a family of powerful imaging techniques that dramatically improve spatial resolution over standard, diffraction-limited microscopy techniques and can image biological structures at the molecular scal ...

Phase imaging has been demonstrated to offer a good contrast between and within brain tissues at 7T[1] with iron and myelin concentration being amongst the main modulators of the observed contrast due to their para- and dia-magnetic properties.Phase imagin ...

We investigate hole-selective passivating contacts that consist of an interfacial layer of silicon oxide (SiOx) and a layer of boron-doped SiCx(p). The fabrication process of these contacts involves an annealing step at temperatures above 750 degrees C whi ...

This paper deals with input adaptation in dynamic processes in order to guarantee feasible and optimal operation despite the presence of uncertainty. The proposed adaptation consists in using the nominal optimal inputs and adding appropriately designed inp ...

High-throughput synchrotron-based tomographic microscopy at third generation light sources allows to probe cm-sized samples at micrometer-resolution. In this work, we present an approach to image a full mouse brain. With Indian-ink as a contrast agent, it ...

We present nonquadratic Hessian-based regularization methods that can be effectively used for image restoration problems in a variational framework. Motivated by the great success of the total-variation (TV) functional, we extend it to also include second- ...

This study deals with early stages of sigma phase growth in a high end austenitic stainless steel - Alloy 28 (EN 1.4563/UNS N08028). Its precipitation kinetics was followed by a series of heat treatments at 800 degrees C for holding times up to 30 000 s. T ...

We investigate a non quadratic regularizer that is based on the Hessian operator for dealing with the restoration of 3-D images in a variational framework. We show that the regularizer under study is a valid extension of the total-variation (TV) functional ...

In this article, we present an X-ray tomographic imaging method that is well suited for pulmonary disease studies in animal models to resolve the full pathway from gas intake to gas exchange. Current state-of-the-art synchrotron-based tomographic phase-con ...

For the first time, a high-density amorphous and crack-free bulk metallic glass (BMG) based on a precious metal (PdCuNiP) was produced via additive manufacturing (AM). Laser powder-bed fusion (LPBF) was used for the fabrication of the samples, and led to a ...

We introduce a new wavelet-based method for the implementation of Total-Variation-type denoising. The data term is least-squares, while the regularization term is gradient-based. The particularity of our method is to exploit a link between the discrete gra ...

Huntington's disease (HD) is a late onset, inherited neurodegenerative disorder for which early pathogenic events remain poorly understood. Here we show that mutant exon 1 HTT proteins are recruited to a subset of cytoplasmic aggregates in the cell bodies ...

Total variation (TV) is a powerful method that brings great benefit for edge-preserving regularization. Despite being widely employed in image processing, it has restricted applicability for 1-D signal processing since piecewise-constant signals form a rat ...

In this Account, we describe the challenges and promising applications of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging and spectroscopy at cryogenic temperatures. Our work focuses on two areas of application: the delay of electron-beam-induced degradatio ...

Vision is a natural tool for human-computer interaction, since it pro- vides visual feedback to the user and mimics some human behaviors. It requires however the fast and robust computation of motion primi- tives, which remains a difficult problem. In this ...
