Integrating unconventional HfO2-based ferroelectrics in thin film transistors (TFTs) has proven effective in enhancing performance by stabilizing negative capacitance (NC). This is achieved by incorporating the ferroelectric in series with a high-permittiv ...

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries have emerged as promising candidates for safe and cost-effective energy storage, yet their performance remains constrained by electrode stability and electrolyte composition. In this study, we investigate the electrochemical beha ...

In this article, a series-connected SiC MOSFETs-based medium voltage (MV) dual active bridge (DAB) converter featuring a lowvoltage difference amongdevices and high efficiency is proposed. In the developed DAB converter, the zero voltage switching-on chara ...

Microsupercapacitors (with footprints from -mm up to -cm scale) have attracted attention for use as electrochemical energy storage devices to power wearables, IoT, and other small microsystems due to their high power density, excellent charge/discharge rev ...

This thesis investigates the magnetic properties of single atoms and dimers adsorbed on graphene and oxide decoupling layers supported by single crystal metal substrates, using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spin-polarized scanning tunneling micro ...

In addition to a reduced number of feeders, which would simplify their integration in the cryostat of the tokamak, the present study considers the possibility to reduce the voltage during safety discharge of the toroidal field (TF) coils. A lowered dischar ...

This paper presents results from 21 large-scale experiments on steel columns that examined their collapse behavior as related to steel moment resisting frames (MRFs). The test specimens included wide-flange and square hollow structural shapes (HSS) and wer ...

This paper presents demonstration of a protection scheme integrated into marine DC power distribution networks to investigate the coordination between each protection action. The integrated protection scheme is based on three different time-frame protectio ...

Vibration mode and resonance frequency of piezoelectric MEMS ultrasonic sensors was investigated on buckled diaphragm structures. The buckling of the diaphragms was introduced intrinsically through residual stress control of the piezoelectric film, and ext ...

The new class of fully silicon-compatible hafnia-based ferroelectrics with high switchable polarization and good endurance and thickness scalability shows a strong promise for new generations of logic and memory devices. Among other factors, their competit ...

During the design phase of a modular multilevel converter (MMC), an accurate loss evaluation of the submodule (SM) plays an important role. In this paper, a method based on the analytical description of the MMC key waveforms that allows to directly obtain ...

In a battery system, an electrochemical cell has a first compartment containing a positive electrolyte with an electrode 2 at least partially immersed in the positive electrolyte containing the first redox active material, forming a positive half cell. A s ...

Electric fields can be effectively used to sense, manipulate, and move particles in lab-on-a-chip devices. Nevertheless, the throughput of such devices is a critical issue, which can be effectively improved by increasing the height of the microchannels. Fo ...

The progressive integration of renewable energy sources such as wind turbines and photovoltaic pannels in the current electrical network, and the rise of the electrical mobility, provoke a change of paradigm in the sector of energy management. The increasi ...

Solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (sDSCs) are devoid of such issues as electrolyte evaporation or leakage and electrode corrosion, which are typical for traditional liquid electrolyte-based DSCs. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) is one of the ...

Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors such as single- and few-layer molybdenum disulphide(MoS2) are promising building blocks for prospect flexible, transparent and low power electronics. Due to an electronic bandgap of the order of ~1.8 eV and atomic-scale ...

In practice, some differences are usually observed between computer simulation and experimental results of a chaotic circuit. In this paper, it is tried to obtain computer simulation results having more correlation with those obtained in practice by using ...

Interdigitated electrode (IDE) systems with lead zirconate titanate (PZT) thin films play an increasingly important role for two reasons: first, such a configuration generates higher voltages than parallel plate capacitor-type electrode (PPE) structures, a ...

Even if supercapacitors present a reduced energy density, they enable to store a significant amount of energy, which leads to a significant autonomy for applications with reduced energy needs. The main advantage of supercapacitors is there to compensate a ...

Based on the temperature change in an embankment, a seepage flow simulator and monitoring system based on distributed optical fiber sensing are proposed. A simulator is designed that consists of scale model of embankment with definite length, seepage flow ...
