We theoretically and experimentally investigate the formation of dissipative coherent structures in Kerr nonlinear optical microresonators, whose spectrum encompasses an integrated dispersion that exceeds the cavity free-spectral range. We are able to acce ...

Optical parametric amplification is a promising alternative to traditional erbium-doped amplifiers, offering unidirectional, low-noise, and broadband amplification. Here we present an integrated continuous-traveling-wave parametric amplifier that surpasses ...

Optical amplification, crucial for modern communication, primarily relies on erbium-doped fibre amplifiers (EDFAs)1,2. Yet, EDFAs only cover a portion of the low-loss spectrum of optical fibres. This has motivated the development of amplifiers operating be ...

We demonstrate continuous-wave parametric amplifier w ith a 1 40 n m gain bandwidth spanning the optical S,C, and L-bands and up to 25 dB off-chip net-gain in a dispersion engineered gallium phosphide-on-insulator (GaPOI) waveguide with up to 160 mW output ...

The diversity of experimentally observed nonlinear coherent and partially coherent optical structures, including breathing, zero-dispersion, and switching wave states in driven optical microresonators, is mainly provided by cavity dispersion engineering. R ...

A key challenge in microresonator-based frequency combs has been achieving f-2f self-referencing, which requires a powerful, octave-spanning microcomb. Stable self-referenced combs have numerous applications including ultra-low-noise microwave generation a ...

We demonstrate integrated optical continuous-travelling-wave parametric amplifiers that significantly surpass the amplification bandwidth of traditional Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers. Using a 5.55-cm-long integrated gallium phosphide waveguide, we achieve ...

Ring resonators have proven to be extremely successful for generation of temporal dissipative Kerr solitons, but their dispersion engineering is limited. We present a photonic-crystal Fabry-Perot resonator with record-high quality factors in gallium phosph ...

We report broadband bright soliton microcomb generation in the emerging platform gallium phosphide on insulator. We demonstrate a broadband dispersion-engineered photonic-crystal Fabry-Perot resonator with record-high quality factors. ...

We present an algorithm to arbitrarily engineer the dispersion of photonic-crystal Fabry-Pérot resonators via the accurate design of chirped reflectors, opening avenues to exotic dispersion profiles, dispersive-wave engineering and near-zero-dispersion sol ...

Optical parametric amplification [1], which utilizes material nonlinearities, has long been considered one approach to increase channel capacity, but the technical complexity of systems using highly nonlinear fibers or bulk waveguides restricts their pract ...

We demonstrate optical continuous-travelling-wave parametric amplification in a 5.55-cm-long integrated gallium phosphide waveguide, achieving up to 35 dB of gain and significantly surpassing the bandwidth of erbium-doped fiber amplifiers. ...
