The Golgi apparatus, the main glycosylation station of the cell, consists of a stack of discontinuous cisternae. Glycosylation enzymes are usually concentrated in one or two specific cisternae along the cis-trans axis of the organelle. How such compartment ...

MORN (Membrane Occupation and Recognition Nexus) repeat proteins have a wide taxonomic distribution, being found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Despite this ubiquity, they remain poorly characterised at both a structural and a functional level compare ...

Huntington's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder caused by an expanded polyglutamine stretch near the N-terminus of the huntingtin (HTT) protein, rendering the protein more prone to aggregate. The first 17 residues in HTT (Nt17) interact with lipid mem ...

Protein kinases of the dystonia myotonica protein kinase (DMPK) family are critical regulators of actomyosin contractility in cells. The DMPK kinase MRCK1 is required for the activation of myosin, leading to the develop-ment of cortical tension, apical con ...

Huntington disease is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by a polymorphic tract of polyglutamine repeats in exon 1 of the huntingtin protein, which is thought to be responsible for protein aggregation and neuronal death. The polyglutamine tract is p ...

STARD4 regulates cholesterol homeostasis by transferring cholesterol between the plasma membrane and endoplasmic reticulum. The STARD4 structure features a helix-grip fold surrounding a large hydrophobic cavity holding the sterol. Its access is controlled ...

AU Lipid: Pleaseconfirmthatallheadinglevelsarerepresentedcorrectly transfer proteins (LTPs) are key players in cellular homeostasis : and regulation, as they coordinate the exchange of lipids between different cellular organelles. Despite their importance, ...

Neural differentiation, synaptic transmission, and action potential propagation depend on membrane sphingolipids, whose metabolism is tightly regulated. Mutations in the ceramide transporter CERT (CERT1), which is involved in sphingolipid biosynthesis, are ...
