Energy piles are shallow geothermal systems integrated into structures already required for structural functions of civil works that provide both geothermal energy supply and structural support to the built environments. This research work is driven by the ...

Understanding the behaviour of soil-structure interfaces is critical for addressing the analysis and design of energy geostructures. In this study, the interface failure mechanism of energy piles (where a shear band is detached from the surrounding soil th ...

Energy piles represent an innovative technology that can help provide sustainable geothermal heating or cooling energy for thermal conditioning purposes. In hot-dominated climates, the interest is to inject heat in the ground and extract energy for space-c ...

The response of the soil-structure interface can significantly affect the performance of any geotechnical structure. Thermal cycles are a new factor that influence the response to all structures that have an energy function in addition to the structural on ...

This study examines the influence of the internal air environment on the geothermal potential of a metro station in Bucharest with a standard design commonly found in metro stations. It addresses the challenges posed by factors such as train movement on ai ...

Over the past two decades, the thermo-hydro-mechanical behavior of earth-contact structures such as piles, walls, slabs, and tunnels, which simultaneously provide structural support and energy supply, has been studied through various field experiments and ...

The behavior of an energy pile in a group is different from that of an isolated energy pile due to thermal and mechanical interactions. This study aims to extend the load transfer method to consider the mechanical and thermal interactions of energy piles i ...

The design of energy pile is hampered by the complex interaction between the piles and the slab subjected to thermal loads. Although finite element analysis is used to account explicitly for the interactions, this method is mainly considered as a research ...

Thermally induced group effects characterise closely spaced energy piles. It has been observed experimentally that the behaviour of energy piles subjected to mechanical and thermal loads, in which the piles are located sufficiently close to each other, is ...
