Purpose : Based on oblique partially coherent illumination of transparent samples, we developed a simple custom Optical Phase Imaging (OPI) microscope providing a label-free, semi-quantitative phase contrast imaging. The aim of this study was to explore th ...

Objective To develop a fully automated method of retinal pigmented epithelium (RPE) cells detection, segmentation and analysis based on in vivo cellular resolution images obtained with the transscleral optical phase imaging method (TOPI). Methods Fourteen ...

In vivo observation of the human retina at the cellular level is crucial to detect the first signs of retinal diseases and properly treat them. Despite the phenomenal advances in adaptive optics systems, clinical imaging of many retinal cells is still elus ...

Objective: To image healthy retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells in vivo using Transscleral OPtical Imaging (TOPI) and to analyze statistics of RPE cell features as a function of age, axial length (AL), and eccentricity. Design: Single-center, explorator ...

The phase sensitivity limit of Differential Phase Contrast (DPC) with partially coherent light is analyzed in details. The parameters to tune phase sensitivity, such as the diameter of illumination, the numerical aperture of the objective, and the noise of ...

The present invention describes an imaging system that allows visualization of a wide range of samples both in terms of morphology and in terms of material (e.g. density distribution, varying chemical composition, or anything that induces a change of optic ...

An ophthalmic illumination and imaging system with transscleral / transpalpebral illumination of the eye fundus comprises a light-delivering device with a plurality of emitting areas; each of the emitting areas being configured to be independently controll ...

We introduce a lock-in method to increase the phase contrast in incoherent differential phase contrast (DPC) imaging. This method improves the phase sensitivity by the analog removal of the background. The use of a smart pixel detector with in-pixel signal ...

A method for imaging a tissue of an eye, the method including the steps of providing oblique illumination to the eye by a plurality of light emitting areas of a light delivery device, the plurality of light emitting areas being independently controllable a ...

We introduce a lock-in method to increase the phase contrast in incoherent Differential Phase Contrast (DPC) imaging. The use of a smart pixel detector with in-pixel signal demodulation, paired with synchronized illumination, provides the basis of a bit-ef ...
