Most of the detachment experiments done to date on the tokamak a configuration variable (TCV), both in standard and alternative divertor geometries, focused on L-mode integrated core density ramps. In view of extending these studies to high-power, high-con ...

The most efficient and promising operational regime for the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor tokamak is the high-confinement mode. In this regime, however, periodic relaxations of the plasma edge can occur. These edge-localized modes pose a ...

In this work we provide experimental insights into the impact of plasma-molecule interactions on the target ion flux decrease during divertor detachment achieved through a core density ramp in the TCV tokamak. Our improved analysis of the hydrogen Balmer s ...

The Multi-Spectral Imaging system is a new diagnostic that captures simultaneous spectrally filtered images from a common line of sight while maintaining a large etendue and high throughput. Imaging several atomic line intensities simultaneously may enable ...

Divertor detachment in the TCV tokamak has been investigated through experiments and modelling. Density ramp experiments were carried out in ohmic heated L-mode pulses with the ion del B drift directed away from the primary X-point, similar to previous stu ...

The physics of divertor detachment is determined by divertor power, particle and momentum balance. This work provides a novel analysis technique of the Balmer line series to obtain a full particle/power balance measurement of the divertor. This supplies ne ...

A computer simulation technique is applied to the modelling of Balmer line shapes in dense divertor conditions. The spectral profile of lines with a high principal quantum number n is sensitive to Stark broadening and can be used as a density diagnostic. I ...

Using SOLPS-ITER, we model a TCV conventional divertor discharge density ramp to understand the role of various processes in the loss of target ion current. We find that recombination is not a strong contributor to the rollover of the target ion current at ...

In this paper we validate the finite element code RAPLICASOL, which models radiofrequency wave propagation in edge plasmas near ICRF antennas, against calculations with the TOPICA code. We compare the output of both codes for the ASDEX Upgrade 2-strap ante ...
