Bandgap-tuneable mixed-halide 3D perovskites are of interest for multi-junction solar cells, but suffer from photoinduced spatial halide segregation. Mixed-halide 2D perovskites are more resistant to halide segregation and are promising coatings for 3D per ...

In the continuously developing field of lignocellulosic biomass, high-yield lignin depolymerization processes are sought to optimize its productivity and profitability. Recently, formaldehyde stabilization during lignin extraction and biomass pretreatment ...

The development of homonuclear dipolar decoupling sequences to obtain high-resolution H-1 NMR spectra from solids has recently celebrated its 50th birthday. Over the years, a series of different decoupling schemes have been developed, starting with the pio ...

Understanding the interplay between protein function and dynamics is currently one of the fundamental challenges of physical biology. Recently, a method using variable temperature solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance relaxation measurements has been prop ...

We show how DNP enhanced solid-state NMR spectra can be dramatically simplified by suppression of solvent signals. This is achieved by (i) exploiting the paramagnetic relaxation enhancement of solvent signals relative to materials substrates, or (ii) by us ...

1H photochemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization (photo-CIDNP) has recently emerged as a tool to enhance bulk 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) signals in solids at magnetic fields ranging from 0.3 to 21.1 T, using synthetic donor-chromophore-acce ...

Nuclear spin hyperpolarization provides a promising route to overcome the challenges imposed by the limited sensitivity of nuclear magnetic resonance. Here we demonstrate that dissolution of spin-polarized pentacene-doped naphthalene crystals enables trans ...

Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) has recently emerged as a key method to increase the sensitivity of solid-state NMR spectroscopy under Magic Angle Spinning (MAS). While efficient binitroxide polarizing agents such as AMUPol have been developed for MAS D ...

Solid-state photochemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization (photo-CIDNP) is a nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy technique in which nuclear spin hyperpolarization is generated upon optical irradiation of an appropriate donor-acceptor system. Unt ...

Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites have become one of the leading thin-film semiconductors for optoelectronics. Their broad application will greatly depend on overcoming the key obstacles associated with poor stability and limited scalability. There has ...

Understanding the surface of semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) prepared using colloidal methods is a long-standing goal of paramount importance for all their potential optoelectronic applications, which remains unsolved largely because of the lack of site-s ...

Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) is a method that can significantly increase the sensitivity of nuclear magnetic resonance. The only effective DNP mechanism for in situ hyperpolarization in solution is Overhauser DNP, which is inefficient for H-1 at high ...

We determine the complete atomic-level structure of the amorphous form of the drug atuliflapon, a 5-lipooxygenase activating protein (FLAP) inhibitor, via chemical-shift-driven NMR crystallography. The ensemble of preferred structures allows us to identify ...

Aqueous acrylamide gels can be used to provide dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) NMR signal enhancements of around 200 at 9.4 T and 100 K. The enhancements are shown to increase with crosslinker concentration and low concentrations of the AMUPol biradical ...

Solid-state magic-angle spinning NMR spectroscopy is a powerful technique to probe atomic-level microstructure and structural dynamics in metal halide perovskites. It can be used to measure dopant incorporation, phase segregation, halide mixing, decomposit ...

Biologically derived metal-organic frameworks (bio-MOFs) are of great importance as they can be used as models for bio-mimicking and in catalysis, allowing us to gain insights into how large biological molecules function. Through rational design, here we r ...

The development of magic-angle spinning dynamic nuclear polarization (MAS DNP) has allowed atomic-level characterization of materials for which conventional solid-state NMR is impractical due to the lack of sensitivity. The rapid progress of MAS DNP has be ...

The intrinsic low sensitivity of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) experiments limits their utility for structure determination of materials. Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) under magic angle spinning (MAS) has shown tremendous potential to overcome this ...

1H-detected dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP)-enhanced fast magic angle spinning (MAS) NMR experiments provide unprecedented sensitivity to study the structure and dynamics in advanced materials and biomolecules. However, in relayed DNP experiments, DNP e ...

Chemical doping of inorganic–organic hybrid perovskites is an effective way of improving the performance and operational stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Here we use 5-ammonium valeric acid iodide (AVAI) to chemically stabilize the structure of ...
