Dual-channel gate driver is commonly utilized in the industry for accommodating the widespread use of half-bridge power modules. As wide-bandgap devices become increasingly prevalent due to their superior switching characteristics compared with conventiona ...

Modularized Bridge Rectifier (mBR) is a promising solid-state transformer (SST) topology that replaces active front-end stages with diodes and utilizes multiple isolated DC/DC converters. This paper investigates magnetic integration schemes to mitigate the ...

The branch paralleling represents one of the available options with regards to the modular multilevel converter power extension. In such a case, the main technical challenge resides in the control domain, whereas a new set of possibilities from the voltage ...

There are numerous ways to tackle the design optimization problem of inductive devices, being it a transformer or an inductor. The problem is generally nonlinear, nonconvex, and comprises a mix of continuous and discrete variables which makes it rather a d ...

The control of a modular multilevel converter can be achieved in various ways. Traditionally, upper-layer energy controllers and middle-layer current controllers are centrally implemented. In some hardware realizations, the submodules also include a local ...

The size and position difference of the windings determine the leakage flux path and give rise to unbalance of the short-circuit impedances, which strongly affects the transient behaviour of the transformer. This work proposes a new approach of modelling w ...

Magnetic components using soft core materials are widely used in power electronic converters. The hysteresis effect of the material leads to power loss and harmonic distortion. If this effect can be modelled in system-level time-domain simulation, the perf ...

The duty-cycle control is a popular option for current limiting in LLC resonant converters. Such current limiting is required to protect the converter either during the start-up or during an overload. Although this method proved to be effective, the switch ...

This paper discusses the technical challenges and trade-offs tied to design of medium frequency transformers (MFTs) for medium-voltage (MV) high-power (HP) power electronic applications, namely emerging solid state transformers (SSTs). A detailed analysis ...

Recently, IGCTs have shown a great potential for the soft-switching dc transformer applications based on LLC resonant converter. The zero-voltage switching that is present in this converter topology enables an operation of IGCTs without clamping circuit an ...

In two-stage solid-state transformers with input-series output-parallel structure, the LLC converter operating at a fixed switching frequency is a common choice for the isolated DC/DC conversion stage because it can provide a high efficiency and a fixed vo ...

Solid-State Transformers with Input-Series/Output-Parallel configuration offer a convenient solution for AC/DC conversion due to their scalability and modularity. In this configuration, each module experiences a second-order harmonic ripple caused by local ...
