Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) is extensively used to characterize Solid Oxide Cells (SOCs) to extract information on the elementary loss mechanisms. However, these individual mechanisms usually overlap in the frequency domain, requiring dedi ...

A decision-support tool (ORES) in the form of a linear program is developed to determine the optimal investment and operating decisions for residential energy systems. It shows how energy conversion units such as a cogeneration fuel cell, a heat pump, a bo ...

The energy sector is undergoing several transformations in an effort to tackle climate change, driving society towards reducing energy consumption and more sustainable energy conversion. In this context, electrochemical devices such as Solid Oxide Cell (SO ...

The present paper evaluated a sugarcane biorefinery producing ethanol, through the conventional process by sugars fermentation and methanol through bagasse and leaves gasification, hot cleaning and synthesis. The sugarcane biorefinery was modelled using fl ...

The progress in the diffusion of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) as commercial devices is not paired by literature production. Articles describing the behaviour of SOFC stacks are rare because of confidentiality reasons for commercial suppliers while research ...

The triode solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is a three electrodes configuration. The third electrode, so-called auxiliary, is connected in a way to run in electrolysis mode, while cathode and anode operate in normal fuel cell mode. This mixed operation allows ...

Within the context of sustainable energy supply and CO2 emissions reduction a Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) - Gas Turbine hybrid system, fuelled with gasified woody biomass for medium scale applications (8MWth,BM of dry biomass) is studied in detail. The sy ...

Microstructural changes in Ni–yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) near the YSZ electrolyte were examined by three-dimensional (3D) electron microscopy after electrolysis and fuel cell operation up to 10,700 h and 15,000 h, respectively. The depletion of Ni an ...

This study examines the effect of Ni migration near the interface with the electrolyte after fuel cell (SOFC) and electrolysis mode (SOEC) operation on nickel-yttria stabilized zirconia (Ni-YSZ) electrodes. The experimental dataset consists in a series of ...
