The photoelectron spectra of both liquid and gas phase aromatic molecules are reported. The spectra were obtained using a 34.1 eV source produced by high harmonic generation and analysed with the help of high-level ab initio simulations using the reflectio ...

We describe a femtosecond photoelectron and photoion spectroscopy setup using a simple, novel way to produce a vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) probe pulse. We isolate the femtosecond VUV pulse from a high harmonic continuum by using the bandpass characteristics o ...

Nonlinear spectroscopy in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and soft x-ray spectral range offers the opportunity for element selective probing of ultrafast dynamics using core-valence transitions (Mukamel et al., Acc. Chem. Res. 42, 553 (2009)). We demonstrate ...

Many photoinduced processes including photosynthesis and human vision happen in organic molecules and involve coupled femtosecond dynamics of nuclei and electrons. Organic molecules with heteroatoms often possess an important excited-state relaxation chann ...

Norrish-type-II reaction on a semiquinone radical: Stable semiquinone radicals serve as novel molecular platforms on which a Norrish-type-II photoreaction can be initiated. A detailed reaction scheme involving a 1,5-hydrogen transfer followed by a cyclizat ...

We report on an element-selective study of the fate of charge carriers in photoexcited inorganic CsPbBr3 and CsPb(ClBr)(3) perovskite nanocrystals in toluene solutions using time-resolved X-ray absorption spectroscopy with 80 ps time resolution. Probing th ...

We demonstrate spectrally resolved transient grating (TG) spectroscopy in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) near the M-edge of vanadium dioxide. Time-dependent and broadband EUV-TG measurements separate the index of refraction change due to the insulator to me ...

A tuneable repetition rate extreme ultraviolet source (Harmonium) for time resolved photoelectron spectroscopy of liquids is presented. High harmonic generation produces 30-110 eV photons, with fluxes ranging from similar to 2 x 10(11) photons/s at 36 eV t ...

The laser-assisted photoelectric effect from liquid surfaces is reported for the first time. Photoelectrons generated by 35.6 eV radiation from a liquid microjet of water under vacuum are dressed with (h) over bar omega = 1.55 eV laser field. The subsequen ...
