We demonstrate piezoelectric actuators monolithically integrated on ultralow-loss Si3N4 waveguides. Varying the voltage applied on the actuator allows tuning the microresonator, and is used to initiate, switch, stabilize and tightly phase lock the single s ...

Thermodynamic noises limit the frequency stability of resonators. Here, we present the first complete characterization of thermo-refractive noise in Si3N4 microresonators. The measurements are in good agreement with theoretical analysis and FEM simulation ...

We demonstrate a current-initiated soliton microcomb by injection-locking a multi-frequency laser diode to a chip-scale high-Q Si3N4 microresonator. This approach offers a pathway for integrated and ultra-compact microcomb source for high-volume applicatio ...

We present a novel compact dual-comb source based on a monolithic optical crystalline MgF2 multi-resonator stack. The coherent soliton combs generated in the two microresonators of the stack with the repetition rate of 12.1 GHz and difference of 1.62 MHz p ...

We introduce a novel architecture for parallel frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) laser ranging (LiDAR). Using dual soliton microcombs, we demonstrate a parallel distance measurement with 24 channels requiring only a single FMCW pump laser and cohe ...

Nonlinear wave mixing in optical microresonators new perospects for compact optical frequency combs with many promising applications. We demonstrate simultaneous generation of multiple frequency combs from a single optical microresonator and a single conti ...

We demonstrate piezoelectric actuators monolithically integrated on ultralow-loss Si3N4 waveguides. Varying the voltage applied on the actuator allows microresonator tuning, and to initiate, switch, stabilize and tightly phase lock the single soliton micro ...

Since their discovery microresonator-based frequency combs have drawn a lot of interest due to their compact form factor and potential for integration. We report on the recent progress regarding dissipative Kerr solitons generated from photonic chip-based ...

Dissipative solitons can be found in a variety of systems resulting from the double balance between dispersion and nonlinearity, as well as gain and loss. Recently, they have been observed to spontaneously form in Kerr nonlinear microresonators driven by a ...

We enter the multi-stability regime of an optical microresonator to generate heteronuclear soliton molecules. Ultrafast electro-optical sampling reveals the bound structures of such soliton molecules, despite comprising solitons of dissimilar amplitudes, d ...

High-order-dispersion-induced dispersive waves emitted by dissipative Kerr solitons are frequently observed in microresonator frequency comb generation. Also known as soliton Cherenkov radiation, this type of dispersive wave plays a critical role in comb s ...

We perform optical frequency division of an ultra-stable laser by using a crystalline-based Kerr frequency comb as a transfer oscillator. We demonstrate absolute phase noise levels of -110 dBc/Hz at 200-Hz offset from a 14 GHz carrier. (C) 2019 The Author( ...

We demonstrate the all-optical stabilization of a low-noise temporal soliton based microresonator based optical frequency comb in a crystalline resonator via a new technique to control the repetition rate. This is accomplished by thermally heating the micr ...

We report mid-infrared Kerr comb generation based on a quantum cascade laser pumping a crystalline microresonator. For the first time QCL light is coupled into a microresonator via a tapered chalcogenide fiber allowing mid-IR Kerr comb generation. ...

We demonstrate an architecture for massively parallel frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) laser ranging (LiDAR) by transferring linear chirps of a single narrow linewidth laser onto all soliton comb teeth though generation of a dissipative Kerr soli ...

We report the first demonstration of microresonator dark pulse generation by self-injection locking of a DFB laser to a Si3N4 microresonator with normal GVD. The 26 GHz repetition rate beatnote is characterized. (C) 2020 The Author(s) ...

A Kerr frequency comb generated in an integrated silicon nitride microresonator is self-referenced using the 2f-3f approach. With an intrinsic bandwidth of two-thirds of an octave no additional, external broadening of the spectrum is required. ...

We develop a dual-comb system based on a single crystalline microresonator by monochromatically pumping counter-propagating solitons in the same spatial mode with equal powers and unveil the role of soliton Cherenkov radiations interference in the process. ...

We discover a novel mechanism allowing for successive reduction of the number of dissipative Kerr solitons in optical microresonators. It is demonstrated that multiple and single soliton state can be deterministically accessed. ...
