Electroreduction of nitrate to ammonia provides an interesting pathway for wastewater treatment and valorization. Cu-based catalysts are active for the conversion of NO3− to NO2− but suffer from an inefficient hydrogenation process of NO2−. Herein, CuxO/N- ...

Photoelectrochemical (PEC) systems are promising approaches for sustainable fuel processing. PEC devices, like conventional photovoltaic-electrolyzer (PV-EC) systems, utilize solar energy for splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen. Contrary to PV-EC syst ...

Device and system design choices for solar energy conversion and storage approaches require holistic design guidelines which simultaneously respect and optimize technical, economic, sustainability, and operating time constraints. We developed a simulation ...

Photocatalytic approaches using two sets of semiconductor particles and a pair of redox shuttle mediators are considered as a safe and economic solution for solar water splitting. Here, we report on accurate experimental characterization techniques for pho ...

Achieving high current densities while maintaining high energy conversion efficiency is one of the main challenges for enhanc-ing the competitiveness of photo-electrochemical devices. We describe a concept that allows this challenge to be overcome by opera ...

High-flux optical systems (HFOSs) are optical concentrators used to increase the radiative flux of the natural terrestrial solar irradiation. High radiative flux concentration leads to high energy density in solar receivers which allow to obtain high tempe ...
