In this paper, we present a complete analytical derivation of the equations used for stationary and nonstationary wave systems regarding resonant sound transmission and reflection described by the phenomenological coupled-mode theory. We calculate the prop ...

Analog computing has emerged as a promising candidate for real-time and parallel continuous data processing. This paper presents a reciprocal way for realizing asymmetric optical transfer functions (OTFs) in the reflection side of the on-axis processing ch ...

Decreasing the permittivity of a dielectric-loaded slotted waveguide antenna results in an increase in both impedance and radiation bandwidth, where the widest bandwidth can be achieved when the dielectric permittivity falls below unity. This concept is em ...

In this work, we design and experimentally demonstrate in the microwave range a robust metamaterial waveguide, which is formed at the boundary between two locally resonant chiral metamaterials with opposite chirality. We show that the interface states at s ...

This paper introduces a horizontally polarized, low-profile loop antenna. The antenna features a printed circular segmented loop loaded with capacitor varactors. By adjusting the capacitive varactors, the antenna has a broadband impedance bandwidth with a ...

This paper presents a wideband leaky-wave substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) slot antenna. The proposed structure comprises slots loaded with a low-index metamaterial (MTM). The MTM is realized using an array of thin wires. Loading the antenna with low-i ...

Disorder, ubiquitously present in realistic structures, is generally thought to disturb the performance of analog wave devices, as it often causes strong multiple scattering effects that largely arrest wave transportation. Contrary to this general view, he ...

Clever 3D-printed acoustic materials allow probing a new higher-order semimetallic topological phase using audible sound. ...

An ultrasound inspection training system comprising a test object (1), an ultrasound producing device (3) configured to generate ultrasonic signals in the test object and read ultrasonic response signals emitted from the test object, a property altering de ...

Eigenmode coalescence imparts remarkable properties to non-Hermitian time evolution, culminating in a purely non-Hermitian spectral degeneracy known as an exceptional point (EP). Here, we revisit time evolution around EPs, looking at both static and period ...

Depending on the geometry of their Fermi surfaces, Weyl semimetals and their analogs in classical systems have been classified into two types. In type-I Weyl semimetals (WSMs), the conelike spectrum at the Weyl point is not tilted, leading to a pointlike c ...

Passive sound mitigation techniques have garnered attention whether for absorption, isolation, reverberation or new wave phenomena observation. In parallel, a wide range of research has been devoted to active control strategies, which complement passive te ...

A laser-based ultrasound inspection system comprising an object for inspection (1), a laser device for ultrasound generation (3a), a laser device for ultrasound detection (3b), and a coating arrangement (4) including a laser absorbing layer (4a) disposed o ...

We introduce the feature issue of Optical Materials Express on Topological Photonics. ...

Waveguide hybrid junctions, such as Magic-T and rat-race couplers, have been of great interest in microwave technology not only for their applications in power monitoring, but also for design and synthesis of various non-reciprocal devices including electr ...
