This paper demonstrates the capability of locally resonant metamaterials (LRMs) for creating compact metallic waveguide E- and H-bends, which are simultaneously working as bandpass filters. For creating these bent meta-filters, we use composite pin-pipe wa ...

Nonlinear topology has been much less inquired compared to its linear counterpart. Existing advances have focused on nonlinearities of limited magnitudes and fairly homogeneous types. As such, the realizations have rarely been concerned with the requiremen ...

Tunable metamaterials functionalities change in response to external stimuli. Mechanical deformation is known to be an efficient approach to tune the electromagnetic response of a deformable metamaterial. However, in the case of large mechanical deformatio ...

Guiding electromagnetic energy at a subwavelength scale is one of the most highly demanded functionalities in a variety of applications, including compact, lightweight satellite communications, signal and data processing, and power systems. The existing sc ...

Slow light plays an outstanding role in a wide variety of optical applications, from quantum information to optical processing. While slow optical guiding in photonic crystal waveguides is typically based on Bragg band gaps occurring in non-resonant photon ...

Acoustic resonators play a key role in the development of subwavelength-sized technologies capable of interacting with airborne audible sound, from its emission and absorption to its manipulation and processing. Specifically, artificial acoustic media made ...

This paper addresses the 3D nature of traditional Electronically Steerable Parasitic Array Radiators (ESPARs). Additionally, the required distance between the main radiator and the parasitic elements usually affects the antenna's electrical size and the fr ...

Non-reciprocal phase shifters have been attracting a great deal of attention due to their important applications in filtering, isolation, modulation, and mode locking. Here, we demonstrate a non-reciprocal acoustic phase shifter using a simple acoustic wav ...

Tunable metasurfaces can shift their resonant frequency through different approaches, one of which is applying mechanical deformations. Here, we show the effects of two key factors on the tunability of deformable metasurfaces; the resonator geometry and su ...

Floquet topological physics, an area exploring periodically driven systems and leveraging degrees of freedom in the temporal dimension, has opened new avenues in photonics by enabling the creation of novel topological phases, new control mechanisms, and in ...

We study in this article the motion of a floating ball attached to a soft string set in circular motion through its other end. Although simple, the system exhibits rich dynamics that we investigate experimentally and theoretically. At low rotation speeds, ...

Routing electromagnetic energy at a scale smaller than the wavelength is a highly sought functionality in a variety of applications, including compact lightweight satellite communications, slow-waves sensors, all-optical information processing, and energy ...

In this work, we demonstrate theoretically and experimentally the ability to classify and reconstruct subwavelength acoustic images from far field measurements using a machine learning approach, combined with a locally resonant metamaterial lens placed in ...

Absorbing airborne noise at frequencies below 300 Hz is a particularly vexing problem due to the absence of natural sound absorbing materials at these frequencies. The prevailing solution for low-frequency sound absorption is the use of passive narrow-band ...

The aim of rationally designed composites called metamaterials or metasurfaces is to achieve effective properties that go beyond those of their constituent parts. For periodic architectures, the design can draw on concepts from solid-state physics, such as ...

Topology and symmetry have emerged as compelling guiding principles to predict and harness the propagation of waves in natural and artificial materials. Be it for quantum particles (such as electrons) or classical waves (such as light, sound or mechanical ...

This letter presents a new low-profile, reconfigurable pattern antenna. The antenna features a printed circular segmented loop fed by two separate feed points coupled to a parasitic composite right/left-handed transmission line (CRLH TL). The key innovatio ...

Analog signal processors have attracted a tremendous amount of attention recently, as they potentially offer much faster operation and lower power consumption than their digital versions. Yet, they are not preferable for large scale applications due to the ...

This paper introduces a novel passive method and structure designed to mitigate unwanted interference at the antenna in conventional Global Positioning System (GPS) applications. In contrast to traditional approaches that typically utilize high-impedance s ...

Dirac degeneracies are essential ingredients to control topological charge exchanges between bands and trigger the unique edge transport properties of topological materials. In addition, when Dirac cones are tilted, exotic phenomena can emerge such as anom ...
