In the past decades different methods based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) have been developed to image a variety of hemodynamic parameters in tissue. However, simultaneous high resolution imaging of oxy- and deo ...

Near-infrared light can be used to determine the optical properties (absorption and scattering) of human tissue. Optical tomography uses this principle to image the internal structure of parts of the body by measuring the light that is scattered in the tis ...

A 252 x 144 single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) pixel sensor, called Ocelot, is reported for light detection and ranging (LiDAR). The sensor, fabricated in the 180-nm CMOS technology, features 1728 12-bit time-to-digital converters (TDCs) with 48.8-ps res ...

Single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs) can be integrated into large pixel arrays. The aim of this paper is to present a view on how these imagers change the paradigm of wide-field near-infrared imaging (NIRI). Thanks to the large number of pixels that they ...

A 1 x 400 array of backside-illuminated SPADs fabricated in 130 nm 3D IC CMOS technology is presented. Sensing is performed in the top tier substrate and time-to-digital conversion in the bottom tier. Clusters of eight pixels are connected to a winner-take ...

An imager for optical tomography was designed based on a detector with 128x128 single-photon pixels that included a bank of 32 time-to-digital converters. Due to the high spatial resolution and the possibility of performing time resolved measurements, a ne ...

Single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) imagers typically have a relatively low fil factor, i.e. a low proportion of the pixel's surface is light sensitive, due to in-pixel circuitry. We present a microlens array fabricated on a 128x128 single-photon avalanch ...

Recently, we demonstrated the potential of single-photon i magers in diffuse optical tomography (DOT). We present the advances of a new algorithm based on optical setups using this kind of sensors. ...

A new imager for 3D near-infrared imaging has been designed based on a single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) imager with 128x128 pixels capable of performing time-resolved measurements with a resolution of 97ps. The imager linearity has been improved to mak ...
