In this paper, a semi-classical formulation for modeling photonic-crystal (PC) structures with a four-layer multi quantum well (MQW) active region is presented. The formulation treats the electromagnetic fields as a classical entity, while employing the qu ...

Due to their extreme sensitivity to refractive index changes, surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors have long been established as extremely valuable tools for biosensing. In the past few years researchers have begun investigating various other metallic n ...

Using full-wafer processing, we demonstrate a sophisticated nanotechnology for the realization of an ultrahigh sensitive cavity-coupled plasmonic device that combines the advantages of Fabry-Perot microcavities with those of metallic nanostructures. Coupli ...

We establish a general method to bridge the gap between full-field electromagnetic calculations and equivalent lumped circuit elements to describe the optical response of plasmonic nanostnictures. The exact value of each lumped element is extracted from on ...

With the maturing and the increasing complexity of Silicon Photonics technology, novel avenues are pursued to reduce power consumption and to provide enhanced functionality: exploiting mechanical movement in advanced Silicon Photonic Integrated Circuits pr ...

We report the fabrication of plasmonic nanoantennas with dimensions in the 200 - 300 nm range, suspended across a nano-undercut, which will be used for the investigation of the optical properties of break junctions. Nanochannels, fabricated using e-beam li ...

The far-field polarization of the optical response of a plasmonic antenna can be tuned by subtly engineering of its geometry. In this paper, we develop design rules for nano antennas which enable the generation of circular polarized light via the excitatio ...
