Data models capture the structure and characteristic properties of data entities, e.g., in terms of a database schema or an ontology. They are the backbone of diverse applications, reaching from information integration, through peer-to-peer systems and ele ...

Peer-to-peer paradigm is increasingly employed for organizing distributed resources for various applications, e.g. content distribution, open storage grid etc. In open environments, even when proper access control mechanisms supervise the access to the res ...

As person names are non-unique, the same name on different Web pages might or might not refer to the same real-world person. This entity identification problem is one of the most challenging issues in realizing the Semantic Web or entity-oriented search. W ...

Conceptual models such as database schemas, ontologies or process models have been established as a means for effective engineering of information systems. Yet, for complex systems, conceptual models are created by a variety of stakeholders, which calls fo ...

Web developers have started to integrate semantic information to their systems increasingly often. The semantic metadata embedded with the resources is typically linked to ontologies or taxonomies. Meta information can bring a number of advantages for user ...

This document introduces the TimeCloud Front End, a web-based interface for the TimeCloud platform that manages large-scale time series in the cloud. While the Back End is built upon scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems as Hadoop and HBase and take ...

Database schema matching is the process of establishing correspondences between attributes of schemas for data integration purpose. Though various commercial tools have been developed, their results are inherently uncertain. In practice, to obtain correct ...

Twitter is a micro-blogging service on the Web, where people can enter short messages, which then become visible to other users of the service. While the topics of these messages varies, there are a lot of messages where the users express their opinions ab ...

People readily express their opinions about the various products, companies, TV shows etc., on Twitter. These tweet messages are thus a rich source of information that can be exploited to understand the sentiments about the concerned products or services. ...

Todays complex online applications often require the interaction of multiple services that potentially belong to different business entities. Interoperability is a core element of such an environment, yet not a straightforward one. In this paper, we argue ...

One of the key challenges to realize automated processing of the information on the Web, which is the central goal of the Semantic Web, is related to the entity matching problem. There are a number of tools that reliably recognize named entities, such as p ...

Twitter is a popular micro-blogging service on theWeb, where people can enter short messages, which then become visible to some other users of the service. While the topics of these messages varies, there are a lot of messages where the users express their ...

Schema matching is the process of establishing correspondences between the attributes of database schemas for data integration purpose. Although several schema matching tools have been developed, their results are often incomplete or erroneous. To obtain c ...

Given a schema and a set of concepts, representative of entities in the domain of discourse, schema cover defines correspondences between concepts and parts of the schema. Schema cover aims at interpreting the schema in terms of concepts and thus, vastly si ...

As the volumes of shared datasets are likely to soar, there is high demand of establishing the interlinking between these public datasets. To achieve this, we need to match their schemas altogether. Moreover, to extract useful pieces of information, ones m ...
