This paper reports experimental studies using the photoelectrocatalytic effect to eliminate a fundamental limit of photocatalysis - the recombination of photo-excited electrons and holes. The fabricated reactor has a planar reaction chamber (10 x 10 x 0.1 ...

We presented a pneumatically tunable 2 x 2 optofluidic switch for on-chip light routing that was controlled by compressed air. The device was fabricated with an optically clear elastomer-polydimethylsiloxane ( PDMS)-by soft-lithography. The optical switchi ...

We describe a reconfigurable lighting system for indoor solar illumination which provides a new way for solar energy conservation. We have experimentally demonstrated an electrically tunable optofluidic light switch which takes the key role for the reconfi ...

We present an optofluidic chip with integrated polymer interferometers for measuring both the microfluidic air pressure and flow rate. The chip contains a microfluidic circuit and optical cavities on a polymer which was defined by soft lithography. The pre ...

We present a novel image-based method to measure the on-chip microfluidic pressure and flow rate simultaneously by using the integrated optofluidic membrane interferometers (OMIs). The device was constructed with two layers of structured polydimethylsiloxa ...

Surfaces -defined as the interfaces between solids and liquids- have attracted much attention in optics and biology, such as total internal reflection imaging (TIRF) and DNA microarrays. Within the context of optofluidics however, surfaces have received li ...

We demonstrate an optofluidic evanescent laser based on a solid circular distributed feedback grating with the dye solution acting as the cladding layer. The laser mode is confined within the grating and experiences optical gain via the interaction between ...

We present a micro-patterned silicon structure that enables the preparation of a substrate for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and pre-concentration of the analyte molecules. The structure is designed to produce a hydrophobicity gradient. As a res ...

The term of optofluidics defines an emergent research field that combines microfluidics and optics. In many lab-on-a-chip applications, these two technologies are used in combining the microfluidics for sample delivery and optics for sensing and controllin ...

An imaging based interferometric pressure sensor apparatus compromise a fluid pressure sensor unit (1) and an optical monitor (2). The disposable pressure sensor part comprises a rigid transparent cover plate 3 and a flexible diaphragm (4), in between form ...

We presented a tunable optofluidic dye laser with integrated elastomeric air-gap etalon controlled by air pressure. The chip was fabricated with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) via replica molding. It comprises a liquid waveguide and microscale air-gap mirrors ...

We present a novel optofluidic differential method for carrying out absorbance spectroscopy of subnanolitre volumes of liquid samples on a microfluidic chip. Due to the reduction of liquid volume, the absorbance detection in microfluidics is often hindered ...

We report the demonstration of low order distributed feedback (DFB) optofluidic dye lasers with reduced threshold. The laser chips were realized in polydimethylsiloxane using replica molding with two masters. A comparison between first, second, and third o ...

We present a pressured mediated tunable optofluidic dye laser with novel cavity. The dye laser chip was fabricated with Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) via replica molding and has none nano-features. It comprises a liquid waveguide and micro-scale air-gap cham ...

Spatially-coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) codes are considered an important candidate for the upcoming 6G standardization, owing to their superior error-correction capability and practical decoding complexity. However, current high-throughput SC ...

We present a chip-scale optofluidic interferometric sensor for measuring liquid pressure based on an imaging method. The chip was constructed with a polymer by multilayer soft lithography. It consists of a flexible air gap optical cavity, which, upon illum ...

We demonstrate optofluidic evanescent dye lasers based on two types of solid distributed feedback (DFB) grating cavities- the first order linear DFB gratings which gives in-plane laser emitting and second order circular DFB gratings which gives surface las ...

We introduce a novel tuning mechanism for optofluidic devices by embedding pressure driven actuator inside microfluidic chips. Multiple tunable optofluidic devices remotely controlled by the pressure of air or liquid were demonstrated. ...

We introduce for the first time a tuning mechanism for optofluidic devices by embedding a Micro-Air-Bag (MAB) actuator inside a microfluidic chip. Multiple tunable optical elements controlled through the pressure of compressed air were demonstrated. (C)200 ...

The synergetic integration of photonics and microfluidics has enabled a wide range of optofluidic devices that can be tuned based on various physical mechanisms. One such tuning mechanism can be realized based on the elasticity of polydimethylsiloxane (PDM ...
