Marc Samuel Friedli

I studied Biology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Geneva and completed a PhD in functional genomics, focusing on transgenesis and gene regulation. Following postdoctoral research at EPFL in epigenetics, stem cells, and transposable elements, I joined the Health 2030 initiative, where I manage strategic programs in precision medicine. Based in the Unit of Precision Medicine within the Faculty of Life Sciences, I contributed to the creation of the Health 2030 Genome Center as a national infrastructure and have collaborated with national initiatives such as SPHN and PHRT, as well as with the Federal Office of Public Health. Since 2021, I have coordinated Switzerland's national genomic surveillance program for SARS-CoV-2. I also coordinate the EPFL course Bio-491 New tools and research strategies in personalized health, which brings together leading experts across disciplines. As a candidate for the EPFL teacher council (CCE), I am committed to strengthening the role of teaching within our academic careers and ensuring that education receives the attention and support it deserves alongside research and innovation.
