Two new heteroleptic ruthenium(II) photosensitizers that contains 2,2';6,2 ''-terpyridine with extended p-conjugation with donor groups, a 4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-2,2'-bipyridine anchoring ligand and a thiocyanate ligand have been designed, synthesized and ...

Running relay: Incorporating an energy-relay dye (ERD) into the hole transporter of a dye-sensitized solar cell increased power-conversion efficiency by 29 % by extending light harvesting into the blue region. In the operating mechanism (see picture), abso ...

The dye-sensitized mesoscopic solar cell has been intensively investigated as a promising photovoltaic cell. Its ecological and economical fabrication processes make it attractive and credible alternative to conventional photovoltaic systems. In contrast t ...

This brief review describes applications of cyclometallated iridium complexes for energy saving organic light-emitting devices (OLED's) and energy generating molecular photovoltaic cells. The first part consists of a short overview of the methods to modula ...

A highly efficient heteroleptic ruthenium (II) complex cis-di(thiocyanato)(4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-di-(2-(4-ditolylamine phenyl)ethenyl)-2,2'-bipyridine) ruthenium (II) (IJ-1) was synthesized and characterized, which when anchored on n ...

Panchromatic response is essential to increase the light-harvesting efficiency in solar conversion systems. Herein we show increased light harvesting from using multiple energy relay dyes inside dye-sensitized solar cells. Additional photoresponse from 400 ...

A series of subphthalocyanines (SubPcs) bearing a carboxylic acid group either at the peripheral or axial position have been designed and synthesized to investigate the influence of the COOH group positions on the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) performan ...

Two unsymmetrical Zn(II) phthalocyanines 1 and 2 bearing an anchoring carboxylic function linked to the phthalocyanine ring through different rigid arylenevinylene bridges have been designed for dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) applications. The phthalocya ...

Several zinc-based phthalocyanines have been synthesized and used in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC). The results have been compared with the standard TT1 phthalocyanine, which shows good light-to-energy conversion efficiencies in comparison with other I ...

We report on solid-state mesoscopic heterojunction solar cells employing nanoparticles (NPs) of methyl ammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3)PbI3 as light harvesters. The perovskite NPs were produced by reaction of methylammonium iodide with PbI2 and deposited onto ...

A new I-/(SeCN)(2) redox mediator has favorable properties for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) such as less visible light absorption, higher ionic conductivity, and downward shift of redox potential than I-/I-3(-). It was then applied for DSCs towards in ...

Organic semiconductors hold promise to enable scalable, low-cost and high-performance artificial photosynthesis. However, the performance of systems based on organic semiconductors for light-driven water oxidation have remained poor compared with inorganic ...

A PbS:Hg quantum dots-sensitized solar cell (QDSC) combined with a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) to harvest panchromatic solar spectrum from the visible light to the near IR is demonstrated. We use the filter to split the solar energy and access the tota ...

A series of donor-chromophore-anchor (D-C-A) sensitizers comprising the diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) chromophore were synthesized and tested in both I-3(-)/I- and Co(bpy) redox shuttle DSC devices. The dye series was strategically designed to elucid ...

A series of tri-tert-butyl zinc(II) phthalocyanines (Pcs) substituted with pyridyl, carboxyl, or picolinic acid anchoring groups on the periphery were prepared. Photovoltaic (PV) studies on these dyes were carried out revealing some interesting features. I ...

The effect of chenodeoxycholic acid as the coadsorbent with a squaraine sensitizer on TiO2 nanocrystalline solar cells was investigated, and it was found that the coadsorbent prevents the squaraine sensitizer from aggregating on the TiO2 nanoparticles but ...

Two novel symmetrical blue squaraine sensitizers were synthesized, which exhibit panchromatic light harvesting and a record efficiency over 6% with J(sc) exceeding 14 mA cm(-2), and V-oc over 620 mV under 1 sun. Their color, low cost, easiness of synthesis ...

We have designed and developed an unsymmetrical zinc phthalocyanine (TT9) sensitizer that consists of three tert-butyl and two carboxylic acid groups that act as "push'' and "pull'', respectively. The two carboxylic acid groups graft the sensitizer onto th ...
