In recent years, the fabrication of novel ultrathin film systems featuring multi-functionalities has been extensively studied due to their potential applications in photonics, sensors and solar cells. In a general sense, the primary goal of the present the ...

Self-assembly in the bulk of a series of hybrid triblock copolymers formed by a poly(9,9-dihexylfluorene-2,7-diyl) (PHF) middle block and two poly(gamma-benzyl-L-glutamate) (PBLG) end blocks has been studied. Since the alpha-helical secondary structure of ...

A porphyrin ‘‘Mille-Feuilles” photo-electrode is fabricated layer-by-layer by deposition of anionic [zinc meso-tetrakis(p-sulfonato phenyl) porphyrin]4- (ZnTPPS4−) and positively charged polypeptides on a 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid-modified gold electrode ...

The influence of sample processing parameters on the thermal boundary conductance (TBC) between aluminum and aluminum nitride has been investigated by transient thermoreflectance. An evaporated Al layer on the polished substrate yielded a TBC at ambient of ...

Ultrathin polypeptide multilayer films are assembled by the sequential electrostatic adsorption of monolayers of poly-L-lysine and poly-L-glutamic acid onto carboxylic acid terminated alkanethiol-modified gold surfaces. The polypeptide multilayer films are ...

We perform in this paper a kinetic study of the photoelectrochemical responses of nanoporous thin photoactive films. The films were fabricated by by a layer-by-layer assembly of positively charged polyelectrolytes (poly-L- Lysine, pLys) and negatively char ...

Capacitance measurements of a polarised liquid|liquid interface show that the capacitance of the interface increases in the presence of an adsorbed monolayer of citrate-coated gold nanoparticles. This unusual observation can be explained by an increase of ...

Hydrogen peroxide generation at a liquid|liquid interface occurs with a yield of 20 % with respect to the concentration of reducing agent (decamethylferrocene). The liquid|liquid interface supplies electrons from the reducing agent and protons from the aqu ...

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) was observed when a planar close-packed assembly of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) is adsorbed at the water|1,2-dichloroethane interface. Aqueous gold nanoparticles, 13 or 16 nm in diameter, are deposited at the interface by ad ...

A soft stylus microelectrode probe has been developed to carry out scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) of rough, tilted, and large substrates in contact mode. It is fabricated by first ablating a microchannel in a polyethylene terephthalate thin fil ...

Photocurrent responses associated with the interfacial quenching of the photo-excited water-soluble zinc meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (ZnTPPC) by ferrocene have been studied at a water|1,2-dichloroethane interface in the absence and in the presence ...

A method based on photogeneration of OH radicals in water from TiO2 nanoparticles was developed to study the kinetics of oxidation of organic molecules which were used as biological antioxidants. The kinetics of oxidation of terephthalic acid as a referenc ...

H-2 may be evolved biphasically using a polarised liquid|liquid interface, acting as a "proton pump", in combination with organic soluble metallocenes as electron donors. Sustainable H-2 production requires methodologies to recycle the oxidised donor. Here ...

A specific multi-phosphopeptide enrichment method is presented to complement current phosphopeptide isolation strategies that normally bias mass spectrometry analysis towards the detection of mono-phosphopeptides. An adsorption model is developed that show ...

A thin aqueous film prepared by layer-by-layer assembly of oppositely charged polypeptides on 4-aminobenzoic acid modified porous reticulated vitreous carbon (RVC) electrodes was used with the aim of forming a 3D-ITIES. The film containing a redox mediator ...

A novel strategy for imaging commercial black-and-white negative photo films by scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) is demonstrated. The imaging is based on using IrCl3 6 as the redox mediator to dissolve silver grains. The SECM probe is biased at a ...
