We present a combined investigation by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and near-edge X-ray absorption fine-structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy of condensed multilayers of two polyphenylsiloles, namely hexaphenylsilole (HPS) and tetraphenylsilol ...

We describe the formation of lanthanide-organic coordination networks and complexes under ultra-high-vacuum conditions on a clean Ag(100) surface. The structures comprise single Ho atoms as coordination centers and 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate (from terephtali ...

The self-assembly of sexiphenyl-dicarbonitrile molecules on the Ag(111) surface is investigated using low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) in ultrahigh vacuum. Several nanoporous networks with varying symmetry and pore size coexist on the su ...

Bisphenol A (BPA) aggregates on Ag(111) shows a polymorphism between two supramolecular motifs leading to formation of distinct networks depending on thermal energy. With rising temperature a dimeric pairing scheme reversibly converts into a trimeric motif ...

This Feature Article reports on the controlled formation and structure-functionality aspects of vacuum-deposited self-assembled organic and metal-organic networks at metal surfaces using ditopic linear and nonlinear molecular bricks, namely di-carbonitrile ...

The metallation of tetrapyrroles at well-defined surfaces under ultra-high vacuum conditions represents an unconventional synthesis approach to achieve tetrapyrrole-based metal-organic complexes and architectures. Different protocols, pioneered over the la ...

We present a systematic study of metal-organic honeycomb lattices assembled from simple ditopic molecular bricks and Co atoms on Ag(111). This approach enables us to fabricate size- and shape-controlled open nanomeshes with pore dimensions up to 5.7 nm. Th ...

We report on a multi-technique investigation of the supramolecular organisation of N,N-diphenyl oxalic amide under differently dimensioned environments, namely three-dimensional (3D) in the bulk crystal, and in two dimensions on the Ag(111) surface as well ...

Self-assembly techniques allow for the fabrication of highly organized architectures with atomic-level precision. Here, we report on molecular-level scanning tunneling microscopy observations demonstrating the supramolecular engineering of complex, regular ...

A surface-supported open metal−organic nanomesh featuring a 24 nm2 cavity size and extending to μm domains was fabricated by Co-directed assembly of para-hexaphenyl-dicarbonitrile linker molecules in two dimensions. The metallosupramolecular lattice is the ...

The adsorption of terephthalic acid [C6H4(COOH)(2), TPA] on a Pd(111) surface has been investigated by means of scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and near-edge x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy under ultrahig ...
