We present a new logic synthesis methodology, called MIXSyn, that produces area-efficient results for mixed XOR-AND/OR dominated logic functions. MIXSyn is a two step synthesis process. The first step is a hybrid logic optimization that enables selective a ...

Advancements in technology enable integration of multiple devices on a single core, resulting in increased on chip power and temperature densities. Higher temperatures, in turn, present a significant challenge for reliability. In this work we propose a com ...

We attempt to examine the potential of silicon nanowire memristors in the field of nanobiosensing. The mem- ristive devices are crystalline Silicon (Si) Nanowires (NWs) with Nickel Silicide (NiSi) terminals. The nanowires are fabricated on a Silicon-on-Ins ...

Monitoring of metabolic compounds in cell cultures can provide real-time information of cell line status. This is particularly important in those lines not fully known, as the case of embryonic and mesenchymal cells. On the other hand, such approach can pa ...

It is envisaged that spintronic logic devices will ultimately be utilized in hybrid CMOS-spintronic systems where signal interconversion between magnetic and electrical domains via transducers takes place. This underscores the vital role of transducers in ...

Despite the huge expansion in recent years of sweat sensing and wearable technologies, several challenges are still open, including poor sample collection, separate sampling and analysis, low multi-sensing capabilities and materials toxicity. In this work, ...

The majority function (xyz) evaluates to true, if at least two of its Boolean inputs evaluate to true. The majority function has frequently been studied as a central primitive in logic synthesis applications for many decades. Knuth refers to the majority f ...

The Swiss Nano-Tera.ch program addresses – among others – issues at the intersection of engineering and medical domains. Specifically, electronic-health (or E-Health) is a broad area of engineering that leverages transducer, circuit and systems technologie ...

We report the experimental study of noise in electrochemical biosensors as related to voltage and concentration. A comparison with experiments is performed for H2O2 and Ferrocyanide with bare sensors and with sensors functionalized wi ...

A micro-fabrication process is proposed to realize high-thickness spiral inductors for the remote powering of implantable biosensors through inductive link. The process is suitable for different substrates, such as silicon and Pyrex, and enables the fabric ...

Logic Synthesis From Partial Specifications (LSFPS) is the problem of finding the hardware implementation of a Boolean function from a partial knowledge of its care set. The elements missing from the specifications are named don't knows. The exact solution ...

We review combinational results to enumerate and classify reversible functions and investigate the application to circuit complexity. In particularly, we consider the effect of negating and permuting input and output variables and the effect of applying li ...

The routing architecture, heavily using programmable switches, dominates the area, delay and power of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Resistive Random Access Memories (RRAMs) enable high-performance routing architectures through the r ...

Technology scaling and three-dimensional integration are two design paradigms that offer high device density. Process variations affect these design paradigms in different ways. The effect of process variations on clock skew for a 2-D circuit implemented a ...

Thermal management is a critical challenge in the design of high performance multi-processor system-on-chips (MPSoCs). Therefore, accurate and fast thermal modeling tools are necessary for efficiently analyzing the thermal profiles of MPSoCs. This paper ad ...

Boolean SAT solving can be used to find a minimum- size logic network for a given small Boolean function. This paper extends the SAT formulation to find a minimum-size network under delay constraints. Delay constraints are given in terms of input arrival t ...

With the growing number of process variation sources in deeply nano-scaled technologies, parameterized device and circuit modeling is becoming very important for chip design and verification. However, the high dimensionality of parameter space, for process ...

For better understanding the genetic mechanisms underlying clinical observations, and better defining a group of potential candidates for protein-family-inhibiting therapy, it is interesting to determine the correlations between genomic, clinical data and ...

Today's rapid advances in quantum computing hardware call for scalable synthesis methods to map combinational logic represented as multi-level Boolean networks (e.g., an and inverter graph, AIG) to quantum circuits. Such synthesis process must yield revers ...

This paper presents a circuit-level design and analysis of high-data-rate 3D serial vertical links which exploit the high bandwidth provided by TSV technology. As most of the existing TSVs consume a large amount of die area, the serial configuration can sa ...
